Clan MacRaith Motorcycle Association

About Me

.. Myspace Layout Generator-Layoutgen.com
..The MacRaithers are a brother & sisterhood of bikers founded in Texas in 1991. We are non-territorial, non-profit, non-brand, non-politics, and non-attitude...(Well, scratch that last one.) We like to hang with each other, and we like to ride. That’s it. No agendas & no drama. We're a weird, twisted family first, & everything else is secondary, even the bikes. We host one event a year, called “The Gathering” that’s for members only. (Though we do occasionally invite a friend or two along.) Clan MacRaith had its origins in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) about 15 or 16 years ago. The SCA is (in addition to several other things) a Full-Contact, Western Martial Arts group. (Read that as Medieval sword fighting) I’m sure there are lots of folks in the Society that would argue the point, but that’s pretty much irrelevant for us. We were there for the fighting. As I said, the SCA has many aspects, but what appealed to us was the martial arts that used leather / steel armour & wooden swords made from rattan. My father & I both joined the year I turned 18, & took to the game with a vengeance. We ran across this guy (The Saint) that fought with a sword & this 2 foot, coffin shaped stabbing shield. We really liked this particular fighting style & started training with him. A lot. We formed the House of MacRaith. We were mainly a light weapons, light cavalry unit during melees. (SCA Battles) Over the years we drew more & more members. Always like-minded people who seemed to have all sorts of stuff in common with us. (Which was mostly a total disregard for what anyone else thinks.) We became this strange family of sorts. As the years have passed, we moved off, moved back & moved off again. We’ve taken up and sometimes dabbled in various hobbies, including historical renactment, several martial arts (both European & Asian), target shooting. We were even a short lived paintball team... Basically, if it's sharp, pointy, or goes bang, we like it. (In the parlance of The Saint, "We Build it, We Use it, We LIKE it!") and that just covers a few of the things at the top of the list. 15 years later, we still play within the Society from time to time, but it’s not the raging passion it used to be. The only thing that’s really stayed constant among us, has been the Clan itself. One of the said many things we had in common were motorcycles. At the time though, we were all bike-less... Rook was the first among us to get 2-wheeled again. She brought her orange & black baby by, & I couldn’t stand it. That very day we went out & I found myself a new set o’ wheels. Next thing you know, the Saint’s rolling up on his Vulcan.... & then the dominoes began to fall. We got together & had a bit of a talk & decided that it was time to add “Motorcycle Association” to the long list of things that Clan MacRaith stood for. …And as they say, the rest, is history. Keep your head up & your wheels down. Turtle .. .. .. .. .. .. ..

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

All you two wheelers out there. Whether you build 'em, race 'em, or just ride 'em. Stop in & say hi.

........... ..........There have been several questions as to just what this "SCA thing" is that we did prior to us all going scoot happy. To answer that question, I've dug up a TV spot that was done on the SCA a few years ago... While MacRaithers are not featured in the bit, we're in most of the battle scenes... somewhere............. ............Clan MacRaith M.A. is a proud member of the............................Clan MacRaith MA patronizes Western Land Leather & motorcycle items. 212 N.
