SAPP THA REEFA SEED

Jamaal Sapp a.k.a "Sapp the Reefa seed", b.k.a. “Sapp Reefa” was raised in Augusta Georgia’s 15th street projects known as Sunset.He was raised by a mother playing the mother and father a role which was hard for her to handle alone. He watched drug dealers run up and down the blocks making money. He remembers times when they would give him a package in exchange for like 5 dollars to drop off to buyers. He didn’t know any better, hell; all he was thinking about was candy. He remembers times they would encourage him to sing songs by artists like NWA, JT Money, and Luke just so they could get a laugh from a lil nigga singing songs with cussing in it. He did his first talent show in kindergarten at Copeland Elementary. He enjoyed the attention so much he decided that he wanted to pursue a career as a rapper when he grew up. Around 1995, him and neighborhood friend Terrance Theophile started a group called the Illegal Soldiers. They later picked up 3 other artists Harold Overton (Ron-g), Andrew Pollard ( Protege), and Dijuan Hill (Mr. Hill) who were all under the label run by Vertez Bennings (V-tec), called Franchise I Salute Records based out of the Barton Village neighborhood of south Augusta. Around late 2000, Reefa left the group to pursue a solo career only to be set back on his solo debut. Later that year he met Erik Boyle (Redmouth) master mind of Pastor Troy's first debut album "we ready I declare war" and D.S.G.B (down south georgia boyz). Rhonda (help me rhonda from Troy’s we ready album) and other local artists put together a compilation album called Wartime which brought a big buzz to the street. Sapp Reefa leaving Augusta left him wondering who is Sapp Reefa? In 2003, he dropped his 1st solo album (Illitorate) which featured Warner Bros. recording artist "Wiz Khalifa". Losing focus in 2006 due to the death of his cousin Joseph "gigolo joe" Johnson, Sapp stopped writing and recording. It wasn’t until his cousin Chaz Burney (Physco Pilla) was released from prison and encouraged him that he got back in the rap game.Staying devoted to hip-hop and promising that he would never quit he has started recording his mix tape (Mind of an Illegal Soldier) to get the streets warmed up for "The Reefa Album". ” I think if I could rap after death, I would do it.
