FUSE BIOGRAPHY
The idea of FUSE came up when vocalist Fredrik Karlberg and guitarist
Marcus Ericsson talked about how Sweden lacked good old style straight
edge hardcore bands. It was either bad moshmetal disguised as hardcore or
good hardcore, that on the other hand rarely or never embraced the ethics
of straight edge. The duo wanted something that they felt could represent
them, both message- and soundwise. They came to the conclusion that
something mustbe done!
Soon Marcus Källman, known from Bonafide Magazine, was recruited to play
bass and later local edge drummer Tony Graf was tied up to the line up as
well. However, finding a practice space and the right time to get the idea
of this band off the ground was harder than expected. In November 2006,
almost exactly a year after Fredrik and Marcus had that first talk, the
guitar finally hit the first notes and the sound of FUSE started to take
shape.
The idea of the sound was already set. To take the raw punk edge from
early 80´s NYC bands and mix it up with the heavy hardcore groove of bands
from the later years of the same decade and city. That special and unique
harsh NYC feeling can be heard throughout the whole sound of FUSE is
derived from different bands such as LIFE´S BLOOD, YOUTH OF TODAY, CRO
MAGS, BOLD, UNDERDOG and KILLING TIME.
In April 2007 FUSE made their first appearance ever in their hometown of
Gothenburg together with COMMON CAUSE, THE CUTTING EDGE and COMMITMENT CREW. Expectations from friends were high and the first show turned out really successful. The first battle was done and the local crowd was won.
The next step for the band is to record a demo in order to find a proper
label to work with. This will take place very soon, so be on the lookout.FUSE is not here to change the world or to have the most friends and plays
on myspace. Creating good music, playing basement shows for friends, going
to the favorite food joint for a bite, escaping, even if it’s just for the
moment, from our own boring and frustrating everyday realities; that is
what FUSE is about. If you are down with that, FUSE welcomes you to join
in.
