About Me

When you look up the word "unrest" in the dictionary; four synonyms pop up: anxiety, agitation, turmoil, disorder. I guess to some extent all four describe a different aspect of "Unrezt". Some of us have been treated with Xanax, some of us perform acts that appear futile, some have been treated with Rilatine, some are just plain disorganised. The rest is equally eloquent: "an uneasy or troubled condition" [not very explicit - granted], "a state of agitation or turbulent change or development" [sounds better already doesn't it?], "the stirring up of public interest in a matter of controversy" [nasty!!], "the state of being moved with violence or with irregular action" [my personal favourite], and finally "a disturbance of mind which shows itself by physical excitement" [sounds like a clubber on Sunday morning]. Our "Unrezt" is a Brussels based collective, originating from Namur [in the Dirty South]. To be perfectly honest, despite varying shapes and sizes [and ages], we came together first and foremost because of a shared interest in going out on the lash. Apart from that, we like our beats broken, our sounds glitchy, an epileptic approach to beat editing and we have a marked preference for brooding atmospherics and growling basslines [I feel like I'm ordering a pizza]. We're usually classed in the "Electronica" pigeonhole. "Electronica" is what the Warp label and its Artificial Intelligence series left us with halfway through the nineties. If that doesn't ring a bell, let's just say we got lost somewhere between the beard stroking and the teeth grinding. If you fancy a little history, from 2000 to 2005 we organised nights left, right and center, wherever we could find a venue actually, and hosted a show on Radio Panik. In 2005 we "launched" our label, called "Thin Consolation" - the name speaks for itself.
