PLASMA

Plasma was born Dimitrios Zissimopoulos in Athens, Greece. At the age of five he took violin lessons for a year but it wasn’t until the age of 16 that Plasma fully entered his journey in music when he taught himself the guitar. Almost immediately, with the first few chords that he learnt, Plasma would write songs that were very popular with his friends and peers.Despite the fact that Plasma recognized he had a talent for music he did not choose it as his field of study in college; he pursued a career in Mathematics instead. However, he never stopped playing, writing, and honing his musical skills. In fact, part of his income as a college student, was from playing and singing in various cafes and restaurants.While in college, Plasma was a member of a few short-lived bands as a guitar player and/or singer. After graduating he joined an experimental hip hop fusion band, MENTAL NOTES, as a composer/guitarist under the stage name Dimi Z. Mental Notes are a prolific band that in the last seven years have played over 500 shows in New York City and the United States, and are currently recording their fourth album. Mental Notes are comprised of Dimi Z (aka Plasma) on guitar, Spiritchild on vocals, and D2 on bass. His sound is a unique combination of dynamic rock and world elements that find their source in his diversely influenced background.
