About Me

I'm right at home here in Man-Shack, Texas with my lovely spouse, Kyong, and our goofy pets, Gandhi and Goldie. Last fall of 2008, I was writing and recording with the terrific Chilean composer and guitarist Mauricio Cornejo, along with bassist Steve Larson, we comprise a minimalist trio project, "Strobe Trio". Our recording is "Mercury", co-released on Macrobop Recordings with the cooperation of Mauricio's label, Maurytius. The Strobe Trio can be found at www.myspace.com/strobetrio, where you can listen to seven of the tracks from the CD. Check out these new recordings! As of May 9, 2008, Dave Christianson's Macrobop releases, "Happy Songs For Crappy Times" & "Worried About Everything", are available on iTunes & on Amazon mp3! You can go to Dave's website, davechristianson.com to check out Dave's newest recording, "Happy Songs For Crappy Times" featuring 15 whiz-bang tracks, as well as some of Dave's other recordings for Macrobop! Dave Christianson has played, sung, and recorded jazz, blues, and soul music styles with many outstanding musical artists; artists with national reputations, artists who are well known regionally in the Northwest; and many more rather mediocre musical artists, many of whom Dave has forgotten about. Dave holds a BA in Music from Central Washington University, 1980; and a BA in Radio-Television Studies from Eastern Washington University, 1983. Additionally, Dave has composed sync-to-picture music for visual media, and he was once a national award-winning composer-arranger and producer of broadcast advertising music serving regional accounts around the Northwest. Dave now lives in Texas, where he produces recordings in his well-equipped personal recording facility, “Dave’s Broiler”, and works on creative musical projects.

Sounds Like: Dave's pop & parody songs sound like socially-conscious or ironic songwriting sensibilities and parody subjects cast in settings borrowing from Bebop, Soul Music, 50's Latin Pop, Avant Jazz, Modern Blues Music, and other stylistic settings.Dave's vocal bag is a combination of R&B, Soul Music, Scat-singing, Bop, Harmolodic linearity, often programmed in unexpected settings.Dave's soundtrack music is often serially derived, and digitally assembled, making use of a marriage of samples and live performance, as dictated by the duration and appeal of given visual stimuli.
