I grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming, when I was 15 we moved to Gillette, WY where I graduated from high school. After school, from 3 to 6pm, and Saturdays, I worked for the local newspaper as a pressman for 3 years. After high school I worked at a strip coal mine in south central Wyoming near Hanna, as a mining engineer for 20 years. I surveyed the 12 open pits each month for the production quantities of overburden moved, coal exposed and coal mined. Designed the final reclamation plan according to state and federal requirements, including construction of 8 small earth dams.In 1992 we moved to Blackfoot, Idaho where I worked for the Idaho Transportation Department in Pocatello as a construction inspector, sampling and testing road and bridge materials for 13 years.I started working for MTI in May of 2006, as a construction inspector, testing concrete, plantmix pavement and soil and aggregate densities, along with that I worked on getting an office in Pocatello up and running.I have been married to Kathy for 22 years, we have 6 daughters, 2 mine, 4 hers, the oldest is 34 and the youngest is 23. We have 3 grandsons and 6 grand daughters, ages 14 down to 1.I enjoy looking on ebay for pocket knives to add to my collection, currently I have 85. I also make hunting and pocket knives, so far I have made 52 hunting knives and 5 pocket knives. I made the first one in 1982, at the time I thought that would be the only one. When I showed it to my friends, many of them wanted me to make one for them, and I’m still making them. Each knife I make is completely by hand and from scratch. I start with flat bar steel, bar stock brass or nickel silver and a piece of wood, then about 40 hours of labor later I have a finished knife.I ride my ‘73 Honda 350 motorcycle every chance I get. In 2005 I even took it to the bike rally at Sturgis, SD, out of the 480,000 bikes there I’m pretty sure I had the only Honda 350. I’ve had 18 different motorcycles over the past 42 years. Once each summer I go backpacking somewhere in the wilderness, I also like to snowshoe in the winter. I’ve backpacked in the Wind River Range and the Bighorns in Wyoming and the Sawtooth, Lemhi and the Bighorn Crags of Idaho. I love the peace and tranquility in the high mountains. Looking at mountains from the highway isn’t the same as hiking among the peaks. There is a majesty you just can’t behold from the car. I also like hunting and shooting sports, back in the 70s and 80s I shot long range handguns in competition. I got 8th place at the world championships in Aug. 1985.Myspace Graphics
