The vision for Planet 12 productions came into existence when L*A*W as a teenager began studying key historic producers like George Martin (The Beatles), Rick James, Phil Spector, Brian Wilson, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Teddy Riley, Gamble & Huff, Maurice White (EWF) and his legendary grandfather Sam "Bluzman" Taylor to get direction for his musical ears. By age 13, he already mastered the "pause" tape loop method to perfection making rap demos with his older brother Casino Chip (who actually named him L*A*W). In the hip-hop domain, it was producers like Marley Marl, Dj Premier, Dr. Dre, Erick Sermon, Pete Rock, Large Professor and The Rza that got his engine running. But none of those would compare to the significant impact that Funk legend George Clinton and his P-Funk empire had on L*A*W when he went to his local record store to purchase the "MOTHERSHP CONNECTION" album. "It basically change my life and i realized that in order to be effective in this game, i gotta stand out the way P-Funk did. People forget that George was a songwriter for Motown in his early days which explains why the first 6 Funkadelic albums were a beautiful chaotic mix of Funk, Rock, Blues, Soul, Gospel and Country. George did it all and i wanted to do it too by expanding the sound he built making it more applicable to my generation"
From there, L*A*W formed a rap group called Tha Bionic Iddiotz. L*A*W served as the mad scientist ringleader just like his hero along with four other talented mc's from high school and was managed by Jimmy Henchmen who ran Henchmen Entertainment and as now known today as Czar Entertainment - Home of hot artists like The Game and Brandy. L*A*W at 16 was the youngest producer on their roster doing everything from playing all instruments, drum programming to songwriting, ghostwriting and arranging vocals while expanding his knowledge on equipment. He also saw history in the making during this period when him and his group opened up for a upcoming artist named Craig Mack whose classic hip-hop song "Flava in ya ear" would launch the era of Bad Boy Records in the 90's. Although the group didn't last long, L*A*W along with his DJ Kalethal Weapon continued to develop what is now called Tha Planet 12 sound - a extraordinary combination of modern technology and live instrumentation that knows no limitations when it comes music genres. Between doing shows with Various P-funk affliated groups like Enemy Squad and 420 Funkmob making a name for himself, he never stopped recording and producing tracks. His dream for production recognition came true when George Clinton heard his demo through a mutual friend and immediately summoned him to come to Florida to produce some music for him and his grandaughter Sativa. " George was the first major dude to recognize my production talent and pay me for it" says L*A*W. " That was one of many high points in my career because i studied him as a visionary producer. George don't need nobody to produce for him and he asked me so i knew i was doing something right".
Some of L*A*W's Planet 12 influence can be found in the music of hot new female artist named Karmela in which he teamed up with another extroadinary producer Simon Vegas to write and produce tracks for her upcoming album (check out "HEY BABY" and "RISQUE" on her page). L*A*W is also producing and writing tracks for other hot new artists like Robert Taylor Jr, Joanna J, Jayden Felder and is preparing to go into the studio to produce the debut album of Boston's multi-talented singer/songwriter Chrissy Poland who L*A*W calls the ghetto version of Taylor Dayne (a black soul/pop singer in a white girl's body). L*A*W's mission and vision of Planet 12 Productions is to educate young artists about the business and their craft and most of all, put out quality music that can sell records, have mass appeal and still be respected in the morning.
