About Me

WHAT IS THE SOUND OF THE WAR ON THE POOR?
What is the sound . . .
What is the sound of the war . . .
What is the sound of the war on the poor?
All are invited to send a one-minute audio recording in response to the question, "What is the sound of the war on the poor?" Send WAV or AIFF files (no MP3 or other compressed formats) to info (at) ultrared.org. Length per submission must be exactly one-minute. Entries over one-minute will be edited. Selected contributions will be posted to Public Record. We are eager to hear from you.
Organizers, artists, musicians, and activists - movements, groups and individuals - all are welcome to contribute audio files from field recordings, re-appropriated sound-bites, mini-symphonies to spoken rants. Once we receive fifteen submissions, we will release a mini-album on our free-download online record label, Public Record.
The first compilation will be released on November 1, 2008 with one-minute sound files by Alejandra and Aeron of Lucky Kitchen, Knut Åsdam, Checkpoint 303, Michelle Dizon, Ashley Hunt, PS Beuys, Isabelle Noël, Anton Nikkilä, and Jennifer Rarick. Rounding off the cast are familiar names to Public Record; Christopher DeLaurenti, Elliot Perkins, Terre Thaemlitz, Jack Tactic, and Ultra-red.
