Bio Texas based DJ/Producer Locklear is a name becoming rapidly familiar to growing crowds of electronic music fans across the globe. His blend of tech, tribal, and electro house with the occasional breakbeat takes on a thick, thumpy, big room sound, perfect for any club. His complex mixing and unique track selection keeps him in demand, while his recorded mixes have become increasingly popular in the underground scene.
Locklear's musical exploits began at the age of 12 when he began extensive jazz and classical guitar training. He went on to form several bands adding bass, drums, violin, saxaphone, and keyboards to his repertoire. It was during this time that he studied music theory under a mentor who has helped launch many careers, including that of Madonna's touring guitarist.
By the age of 14, Locklear began to experiment with the production process via an analog 4-track recorder. This allowed him to dabble in multitrack recording enabling him to play all parts of his compositions. Once introduced to the digital realm of production using software and synthesizers, Locklear began to produce electronic music. This decade of experience is apparent in the quality of his tracks which are currently being played by top DJs in some of the largest clubs in the world. He is largely self-taught and is known to use a very large variety of software and hardware to create his music.
As a DJ, Locklear's mixes have been featured on numerous websites including Proton Radio . He has shared the bill with some of today's most recognized talents including Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Charles Feelgood, Uberzone, Simply Jeff, Jackal & Hyde and many others as well as local and regional favorites. Locklear also performed at Ultra Music Festival 10 in Miami in March 2008.
2007 was a busy year for Locklear. He signed on with Helvetica Recordingz , Wifi Recordings , FBSS , 1980 Recordings , and Digiprana and will be releasing original tracks and remixing for each label. He has collaborated with numerous artists including Randall Jones, El Nino, Aleksus Sanchez, and current partner, Poppin, and has been remixed by Zigmund Slezak, Urban Medicine, Karran & Porter, Damon G, and Big Clap to name a few.
When he's not making beats, Locklear runs Junkytees , a clothing line which combines his love of music and design. He also spends time working as a sound engineer at a local recording studio in Texas and does freelance design work.
