I've learned one valuable thing in those twenty years, family is the most important thing in my life! The LOVE of my life means more to me than life itself. When I leave this world I hope they know how much I love them.JODY'S STORY:Biggest Accomplishment? Raising two beautiful sons. Trever and Tyler. Both the spittin image of my Father Deputy Charles Dobbertin, shot and killed in the line of duty before my sons were even born.The boys Dad (my ex Scott), left when Trever was 8 years old in the hospital with a ruptured appendix and Tyler was a newborn. So it was us 3 Musketeers for a long time. We were VERY CLOSE.Both boys were healthy, handsome, intelligent, full of manners and a love of life. Tyler played 2 seasons of football and 2 seasons of basketball every year since the 1st grade. On Labor Day 2002, Tyler had a scooter accident, and had a head injury and broke both ulna and both radius in both arms. One year later TYLER WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A BRAIN TUMOR. He was born with it but the head injury caused it to grow... Tyler had his first brain surgery Dec.14, 2003. It was supposed to be 10 hours long. Ty's surgeon came out after 2 hours. He said it was a Stage 2 cancer, they only got 20%, go on a Make a Wish Trip. We went to Disney World (not much fun because Tyler was in a wheel chair at the time). We met NBA star Tracy McGrady who was playing against our good friend NBA star Eric Strickland (who taught Tyler basketball). When we got back home, Tyler had another MRI it revealed his tumor had grown an 1/8". His surgeon said, "You can do one of three things, 1) Do nothing and enjoy him for 9 months, 2) Radiation and have him for 5 years with zero quality of life, 3) Another surgery". I asked, "What makes you think the surgery will work this time?" (The last time the surgeon had to quit due to nerves being involved). He said, "I don't know that it will work." The tumor was located in the PONS (brain stem) REGION, which controls breathing and balance. The surgeon said there was a chance Tyler would NOT be able to breath on his own after surgery... I have an online prayer group of over 500 people. I send them a prayer request and they pass it along to their friends, families, churches and prayer websites. I requested that Tyler be prayed for at the EXACT time of his 2nd surgery and asked everyone to pray that: 1) The surgeon hands will be guided by GOD 2) The nerves just pull away and the surgeon is able to get all the tumor/cyst 3) The tumor be a JPA (Juvenile Pyloctic Astrocytoma, which is benign), This surgery took place April 30, 2004 and was supposed to be 10 hours long. Once again the surgeon came out after only 2 hours (which is usually NOT good news), this time he said, "I have never seen anything like it, the nerves just pulled away, I was able to get at least 90% of the tumor and it is a JPA." PRAYERS ANSWERED. I seen them wheeling Tyler into the elevator and ran and jumped in. His back was to me. I thought he was still asleep. I asked the nurse how he was doing. Tyler rolled over and said, "AQUA DI GIO MOM". That is the cologne my boys wore, it was also the "code word" Tyler was to say if he was doing alright after surgery...
His 2nd surgery left him with some disabilities. He has left facial paralysis (6th and 7th nerve palsy). He can't track the left eye to the left and can't close the left eye all the way. The right side of his body is numb. Ty has to have yearly MRI'S because of the remaining tumor.
BUT Ty's positive attitude keeps everyone's spirits up.
Today Tyler is 19 years old and in his Sophmore year of College. He is going to be a Personal Trainer and Physical Therapist. In his Freshman year of College, he was Football Manager and started Fellowship of Christian Athletics Club. Ty has his own apartment on campus. He is a 6'1" handsome body builder.Trever was our rock and strength during Tyler's 2 surgeries and Make a Wish Trip. Our sweet and mellow, kind and loving TREVER, WAS SHOT 6 TIMES AND KILLED by evil thugs who kicked in the door of his beautiful townhome and attacked him as he slept. Trever was targeted because he was SMART (Mensa Material) and had started his own Investment Company and was doing very well financially. He lived in the "good" part of town. Never even had a traffic ticket... Trever saved the lives of his 2 roommates as he fought off 3 thugs during this brutal home invasion robbery.I found out after the funeral from several of Trever's friends that he had been having premonitions that he would have to die in order for Tyler to live. I had been having the SAME premonitons and my sister Julie also had the SAME premonitions. We never told each other because we didn't want to worry anyone and we did not want to believe them. Boy how I wish we had confided in each other...TREVER took on all of Tyler wounds when he was brutally murdered. The thugs broke both of Trever's ulna and both radius (just like Tyler's from the scooter accident), the thugs hurt Trever's left eye (just like Tyler's left eye disabilities from the 2nd brain surgery), The thugs shot Trever in the neck paralyzing him, just like Tyler's left facial paralysis and right side of the body. Alot of Trever's wounds came out in court at the trial to convict his killer. It did not surprise me to hear that Trever took on Tyler's wounds so Tyler could live and complete his mission of telling this story.Trever went to heaven on 11/11 at 11. That is November 11th at 11:00 A.M. Three of the same numbers in a row signify God's Heavenly Angels being present. 11 is the highest spiritual number. This is just one of many signs that something huge is going on SPIRITUALLY. I remember the day Trever went to heaven very well. Even though it was November it was warm and sunny. At the exact time of Trever's murder, I was walking outside of Tyler's school and felt such a peace within. There was a bright ray of sunshine pointing straight at a CROSS on the roof of a church, across the street from Tyler's school. I knew something was going on. I knew something was different. Little did I know that my son Trever had gone home to God...My DAD and TREVER who are spittin images of each other were both shot the SAME time of year. Shot the SAME time of day, Shot by the SAME type of thugs, Fatal shot SAME place on the body (SAME place Tyler's brain tumor is located). This is yet another sign that there is something HUGE going on Spiritually.... The SIGNS we get from my DAD and TREVER are awesome and amazing and they are what keep us going. They are our special SPIRIT GUIDES and help us every day and night. We know we will be together again...Tyler and I feel it is our mission from God to tell Dad, Trever and Tyler's story to inspire the world. So that is what I am here for... to complete my mission so I can be reunited with my Father, my son Trever and many other friends and family already in Heaven. In the meantime my whole life centers around my son Tyler.
