About Me
Oblivion is a bunch of stoners from Linkoping, Sweden, who plays melodic stonerrock with a touch of classic rock n roll. Influences include such great bands as Dozer, Kyuss and QOTSA, as well as older heroes like Black Sabbath and Pentagram. In their three years of existance, they have made it to the finals of the regional music competition Rockkarusellen two years in a rowe. They have opened for kick ass bands like Dozer, Fingerspitzengefühl, and Freak Kitchen, and shared stage with Sabaton, Lord Belial, and Morifade among others. And they have recorded three demo tapes, that has been both publicaly and criticaly aclaimed. The more recent Oblivion history begins in late 2003 - early 2004, when Daniel (guitar) and Per (bass) joins original members Isak (vocals) and Sven (guitars) for some tasty jams. At first Daniel played drums, but switched back to guitars after about six months. To fill the the spot, the band recruited Daniels and Pers long time friend Jocke. That proved to be a stroke of genious. With Jocke behind the drumset, providing a much needed heaviness along with incredible groove, and Daniel on second guitar, balancing Svens technical, progressive riffs with his own more rock n roll influenced style, the Oblivion Sound started taking shape. After about a year of giging, jamming and having fun, they recorded their first demo, entitled â€Face the Strangeâ€. With those songs as the backbone of the live set, they started getting a lot of local gigs and a growing fan base. In the summer of 2006, they released the next demo: â€Transparent Bandâ€, and about a year later they returned to Skylten in Linkoping to record â€Masters of Timeâ€. Both the band, their fans and the local critics agree that their third demo effort is by far their most sucsessful and well sounding. The songs from that demo have in large replaced the older songs in the live set, and the band is now hunting high and low for gigs, both local and beyond, so that more people gets a chance to hear the stoner colossus that is Obivion.I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
