Influences: IPOD or pre-arranged playlist cannot cater to the idiosyncracies of a particular crowd, especially in New York City. With the access to music people have nowadays people are extremely selective about the music they would like played at their events. What an experienced dj brings to the table that an IPOD cannot is when to shift gears, when to take the music back a little and be able to keep people dancing all night. An IPOD has no way of knowing who is on the dance floor and what hiphop song should be played next. This takes years to master and the last thing one would want at the club is 300 people who stop dancing and are staring at the ipod in the corner.
club withIt used to be that the disc jockey's biggest enemy was a no dedicated sound system. Not unlike a wedding DJ carting in a carload of speakers, monitors, mixers and turntables, a freelance club DJ from a decade ago would need to set up a whole rig to do a gig, adding hours of work to a four-hour spin. In time, though, most clubs worth their salt simply invested in the needed gear, making life a lot easier and more portable for the DJ, who now needed to pack only a crate full of records or CDs. but were far past those days and now the new school has steped up ta the plate and even with the ipod boomers and labtop based programs yes i do use serato and the answer is still
Just set me up 2 tec1200/1210''s a crate, and it a rap. ..........DJ SL1
