Avi Buffalo Music is a Band from Long Beach, California and Los Alamitos, California. It's roots stem from early 2007, when Avi Buffalo started recording acoustic songs on his own before being invited to play shows by Outsider Folk Festival, in which he asked fellow musician friends to accompany him. Avi started jamming and writing with local indie guitarist Joel Jasper, and more sophisticated music was spawned through this discovery of unique cohesiveness. As time progressed, the dire need to make a legitimate electric band grew stronger and stronger, until it was decided upon for the sake of the 3rd Murufest show in late 2007, and the band began practicing heavily for shows in October of 2007 up until today. Eventually they didn't need to practice THAT much, and it was a nice, relaxing time.
Band Members:
Andrew Celik: Is a multi-instrumentalist from Los Alamitos with strong influences of rock n' roll and blues. With a well-rounded, wise approach to the bass that few his age can compete with, he makes up a cornerstone of the band that is not only always in context, but also extremely creative.
Rebecca Coleman: Started playing piano when she was seven, and eventually strayed away from the classical style because of her free-spirited and exceptional ear for music. Her balance of classical technique and natural bond with music makes her a beautiful pianist. When Avi and Dylan Wood(Monogram, Time of Wolves, Return to Radio) were recording "Truth Sets In", Avi asked Rebecca to sing on it only to discover that she had a wonderful voice. She's played every show since.
Sheridan Riley: Completely defies the laws of girls not being phenomenal on drums. She and Avi started jamming when he was in 7th grade and she was in 6th at Demille Middle School, then again when she was a freshman and he was a sophomore at Millikan High School. Her influences span from John Bonham to Glenn Kotche and beyond. Her humble attitude and dedication to the music further emphasizes the fact that she's one of the finest young drummers gigging, and she executes beautifully a brilliantly golden energy paired with colorful textural devices.
Avi Buffalo:Started playing guitar in 7th grade, and really loved it, so he kept playing it. Eventually, local blues guitarist Joel Weinberg took him under his wing as an apprentice and Avi started playing with a band of aged blues guys on Wednesday nights. He played with them almost every week for around 3 years, which was infinitely fortunate for Avi's musical learning. He formed Monogram with Dylan Wood and Baron Saari, a band which stayed in some form of action for a while, before casually disbanding when Avi started writing more different stuff. Avi also plays guitar for Boris Smile, Millikan High School Jazz Band, and a heartthrob Los Angeles R&B group called O.N.E., along with the occasional session.
Full band currently recording with Ryan Helms.
