Hunter Beard of The Definition

The world never saw it coming. Just when people were starting to wonder what had happened to the lyrical songs with substance they used to hear, a new sound emerged. The Definition. They called this sound "music for the def". Those who don't listen to what everyone else is telling them. Those who go there own way. The Definition consists of Hunter Beard, lead artist of The Definition (who grew up in Little Rock and has been writing and performing lyrics for the past five years), and Chad Kennedy (who has been writing lyrics since 1996). In a recent music review, Free Press writer Rachel Thompson wrote, “Imagine a fusion of the intelligence and realness of hip-hop with the proclaimed flashiness of rap. Hunter Beard is a lyrical mastermind who has a style that is refreshingly unique.”Hunter began recording his first album “Scars” in December, 2006, upon his release from prison and brought on friend Chad “Big Kennedy” Kennedy. Shortly after, a Free Press article and music review followed, hailing the group’s talent. Within only three months after Hunter’s release, their first single, “Want It With Us,” was introduced to the radio by Power 92 Jams on their segment “Pump It Or Dump It”— receiving 100 percent votes to “Pump It” from station fans. This led to the song’s placement in rotation at Power 92 Jams and Hot 96.5, as well as stations in Oklahoma, Alabama and Louisiana (all Clearchannel Networks) reaching a total of 200 BDS spins in addition to “drops” and radio interviews. The Definition has opened for several major acts, such as Paul Wall, Brooke Hogan, and Trap Starz Click and currently have concerts set with other well known artists such as Too Short, Pitbull, Sean Kingston, Babybash, and The Dream. The pair is featured on several mixtapes, including 50/50 Entertainment’s Street Cred. (both volumes 1 and 2), Soleternity’s upcoming album (the well established LA producer of many of the industry’s top artist’s), and their single, “Get Hypnotized,” is featured on The Music Hustle 3 album along with artists Lil Wayne, Too Short, and Ying Yang Twins. When not traveling for shows, The Definition resides in both Hermosa Beach CA (Los Angeles area), and Little Rock, AR —performing, finishing their second album, and taking Hollywood by storm.The Definition is shopping for a major recording contract and has the talent, style, and marketability to be worldwide platinum selling artists. They have the complete support of Little Rock’s radio and club DJ’s and are loved and well known by their city. It is safe to say they have come quite a long way since their humble beginnings, but that is to be expected from two artists who regard themselves as workaholics.
