The debut album, Big Night Out, from The Southtown Avengers is here to rock your socks off! Featuring the power-chord rock riffing and gravely smooth voice of Cameron Hager, the furious melodic bass grooves of Alan Pagel, and the precision drumming of Derek Sandbeck, the band does its damnedest to blend the pop sensibilities of The Descendents, the thoughtful punk of Jawbreaker, and the whiskey-soaked aggression of the early Replacements.Cognizant of the surplus of local rock bands, The Southtown Avengers formed in 2007 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and quickly set themselves apart from the pack with their live show. Punctuated by an infectious energy, the band tears up the stage at every opportunity, bringing their undeniable chemistry and rock sensibility to any venue they swagger into. For the last year and half, the band has been playing in and around the Twin Cities, making a name for themselves at local rock-and-roll staples like the Triple Rock Social Club, the Uptown Bar, Club Underground, Big V’s, and Eclipse Records. The single Jump the Shark from the debut album, Big Night Out, has been featured on Minnesota Public Radio’s 89.3 The Current. The band has also received kudos for their video New Disaster, shot on location in Minneapolis by local director Jason Mitchell. The band is preparing a four-song EP of new tracks due out in the spring, and plans for a short Midwestern tour are in the works.2010 looks to be a big year for The Southtown Avengers. Stay tuned…
