About Me
!As i was working on the music feverishly for my Gillen H2O project i noticed 2 very important things,
1) that all the songs i had just recorded, and the ones slated to be recorded next were either songs written during my tenor in my first band, Lack Of Discipline, and never finished, or re-worked songs that just needed to be tweaked a tad to be more present and relevent.
and 2) that although a lot of people thought we were a metal band, we most definitely were not, we were in fact a rock/alternative/glam mesh, that played a bunch of metal covers to get our foot in the club scenes door, our originals however did not live up to the sonic mayhem and fury of our covers, and that was a good thing. in fact our entire arsenal of originals only contained one song remotely heavy enough to be considered metal, an original called Liar.
With songs like Still Raining, On the Road, and I Don't See you anymore, we forged a sound that was liaden with hook heavy pop sensibility, combined with an almost 70's rock approach, topped off with just a pinch of glam, and Rock & Roll attitude, but what would you expect from a band who's three core members, were as different as we were. First you had John wade the super metal guru, Johnny Hohlwein the afficionado on all things glam, and me, who was just as heavily influenced by bands like concrete blond, and kings x, as I was by iron maiden and metallica
over the years we (guitarist Pierre G. and drummer Johnny H.) auditioned, added, and subtracted many different members, in our search for the perfect lineup, and even though over the years, we changed names twice (something i was very opposed to) and the amount of distortion may have increased, our initial sound did not change, with songs like "Mother Mary", and "Bewitched Again", we took our hook heavy music to another level, and with the addition of Steve Cain as lead singer ( he replaced John "stoney" Canon) we probably wrote arguably two of our best songs one being a song called "maybe" that we co-wrote together, which was one of only 3 co-collaborations done during the life of the band, for the better part of 6 years I wrote all the music and lyrics to all of our originals except 3, "i don't see you anymore" - was written by Johnny Hohlwein about his daughter and his inability too see her as much as he wanted. "alone in a cold world" and "maybe" were written by Steve Cain.
Of all the bands i have been in since "Lack of Discipline" i have not enjoyed myself more or felt more at home with what i was doing than i did at that point in time of my life, and sense every band i have started sense then has been nothing more than a new phase of L.O.D.'s reincarnation, it seems only fit to bring the project back in it's original packaging, instead of a more self indulgent one geared toward my last name. so without further delay i re-introduce to you LACK OF DISCIPLINE - Enjoy
