9th Duke Recordings is run by Andy Duncan, a producer and freelance sound engineer based in Edinburgh. Having cut my teeth at college and then as house engineer at the Lighthouse Studios for 2 years, I started 9th Duke recordings in 2007.
I offer a comprehensive engineering service, including talking through the sound you are looking for before-hand, coming to practices / gigs before recording to get a feel for the music you are playing, taking a production role if you are not sure of the sound you want; or working under your guidance during the recording process to finely tune the way your finished tracks sound. With access to a fully analogue 24 track pro studio, a digital project studio and a fully mobile pro setup I can tailor the recording process to any project from as little as £15 p/h.
Amongst other projects I have produced albums with Soraiya, Miyagi and Sub-Opt and last year was working closely with Slow Train Records, producing EPs for Jennifer Concannon and The Electric Ghosts which have received airplay on Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music among others. Examples tracks can be found in the music player above. I am always looking for new, interesting projects so please feel free to get in touch to discuss what I could bring to your recording project.

"Our album couldn't have been realised without Andy. He has amazing ears and got such a good sound out of our instruments that I was instantly impressed with him. Andy was a pleasure to work with not only for his patience in making us feel relaxed and confident, but also for his ideas on improving the songs as they were being created. I thoroughly reccommend him to anyone."
