Tyler was born and raised in the small town of Rockglen, Saskatchewan. By an early age he had started showing an interest in music and by the time he finished high school he had already been in several bands; singing, and playing both guitar and drums.
After high school, he took a short break from the music scene and moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta to try a year of college. It was during this time that he realized music was what he wanted to make a career out of. After living in Regina, Saskatchewan for several months working as a server, a karaoke DJ and playing accoustic sets in a few of the local pubs, he auditioned for Canadian Idol and in the end, placed third out of over 12,000 hopefuls. While opportunities were made available to him through the show, he realized that it would be ultimately up to him what he did with those opportunities, and that it was going to take much hard work, responsibility and dedication.
After finishing the show, he spent 8 months out in Toronto where he started up his own business (ROCKLAND ENTERTAINMENT), and financed his first album, titled "I’m Coming Home", of which he co-wrote half of the songs. During this process he was able to work with a great team of people and producers from EMI Music Publishing Canada, as well as write with some very talented individuals including Mike Fox (EMI Music Publishing), James Robertson (Skye Sweetnam), Tommy Mac (Hedley), Blake Berglund (Kennedy Rodeo/The New Weapon), etc.
His live show consists of a unique blend of country and rock, emulating his wide variety of influences including Nickelback, Tom Cochrane, Bryan Adams, the Eagles, Paul Brandt, Emerson Drive and more.
