I am here for Friends

About Me

I came to Canada as a wee lass on a big bird from bonnie Scotland. My father had a dream to create a better life for he and his family. That dream came true and I am truely grateful for all that Canada has given me and the sacrifices my parents made. My family means the world to me. They are the most loving, caring and inspiring people I will ever know. They are also some of the funniest people I have ever met. I am also blessed with great friends who have allowed me to show them who I really am and who appreciate what I can give back. I am an instructor at a police college. I don't own a firearm and I was never a police officer. I teach police officers how to teach other police officers and what it means to be professional in the face of tremendous expectations from the public. It is rewarding job, both exciting at times and excrutiatingly frustrating at other times. It is without a doubt the best job I have ever had.

Movies:

"To Kill A Mockingbird" is my all time favourite movie, and is a good read as a book too. I've seen so many other movies over the years that it is almost impossible to name other favourites.

Television:

I don't watch much TV but I do enjoy catching Coronation Street, The Hour, Fifth Estate, Mystery and movies on IFC (Independent Film Channel).

Books:

My favourites are "Fall On Your Knees" by Ann-Marie MacDonald,"The Underpainter" by Jane Urquhart, and "The English Patient" by Michael Ondaatje. My favourite author is Elizabeth George, who's book "With No One As Witness" I am currently reading. The book "Any Known Blood" by Lawrence Hill was given to me as a gift and I'm looking forward to reading it.

Heroes:

My mother who is the heart of our family, and all the men and women who have given their lives in the line of duty, so that we may live in safe communities."They are not long, the days of wine and roses. Out of a misty dream our path emerges for awhile, then closes within a dream."
