Tomislav "Tomo" Milicevic, the brother of model Ivana Milicevic, is currently in the progressive rock band 30 Seconds to Mars based out of L.A.
Although Tomo has been in a few other bands, 30 Seconds to Mars seems to be the most notable one. Born September 3rd, 1979 in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Yugoslavia. His parents decided to move when Tomo was in Gr. 3 to Detroit and then on to Seattle Washington in the hopes to have a better life in America. He is quoted as saying “...I would be in the army by 16, fighting in the front lines by age 17.â€[1] After his family moved to America it was apparent that they would become successful and by the time Tomo was 18 years of age they opened a restaurant in L.A.Tomo was bred to be a concert violinist. Tomo started to play when he was three up until he was 19 when he discovered metal. He told his dad that he wanted to play guitar, so Tomo and his father made one. His parents were always supportive and pushed him to play music. His uncle Bill Milicevic is a virtuoso violinist. Bill has a Ph. D. from the U of Michigan School of Music. His family is full of musicians and having Classical music and jazz backgrounds Tomo was able perform in symphonies in America until he found his love for guitar. And has been playing guitar professionally for years. Tomo then started writing his own music by the age of 17 and was slowly learning to do his own stuff, which has contributed to his unique style of playing. The guitar that he made with his father was used on the 30 Seconds to Mars sophomore CD titled ‘A Beautiful Lie’ 2005.After 2 and a half years of culinary school, Tomo became a certified executive chef as well as a certified pastry chef who specialized in wedding cake decorating and he hopes one day to cook in his parents L.A restaurant while on a break from the band. However with the very intense tour schedule the band is on, there does not seem to be a break in sight for the guys of 30 Seconds to Mars. While they have just finished their second headlining tour 'Welcome To the Universe', they are scheduled to be on the Taste of Chaos tour co-headlining with ‘The Used’ scheduled to start the 15th of February 2007.
