Influences:
The following are my musical and poetic influences. The first is my Mother for getting me started writing poetry at a very young age. She has been a poetess all her life. She has always been able to sing a song about any topic us boys could think up. That was one of the games we would play to pass the time while driving on vacations. Here is a song about my Mother. A Lullaby For Momma
The second is my Brother Mont for his willingness to help me learn. I wish I could play and sing as well as he does. His writings and songs are from the heart. The first concert I went to was with my brother when I was eleven and he was fifteen. It was CSNY in 1969 at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix, Arizona. It cost $3.50 to get in and I was leaning against the stage watching, listening, and singing along with them as they performed. 1969 - the same year they performed at Woodstock. Santana was the opening act at that first concert. Artistry Of Mont
Next is my dear old friend Randy Westbrook who has now passed on. Randy was part of the family when I was growing up in Lehi, Arizona. He always had an instrument when he came over to help build the treehouses. If it wasn't a guitar strapped to his back it would be a harmonica in his pocket or maybe a mandolin or a ukeleli. I remember how much he loved to play and sing. Back then it wasn't as easy as opening the jacket on an album or looking it up on the internet when you wanted the lyrics for a song. I remember many times watching Randy put an album on the record player, pencil and paper in hand, writing the words to a song by Bob Dylan, Simon and Garfunkel or CSNY. He would write a few words down on the paper and then stop, pick up the arm on the record player and move it back a bit to pick up where he left off hearing the lyrics. He would repeat this effort until he had all the lyrics for that song copied onto the paper. Then he would pick up the guitar and start learning how to play it. That was Randy... Here is a song I wrote about growing up in Lehi. Take Me To My Youth Again
The rest of these are groups I've listened to over the years. Dan Fogelberg is first and foremost. I have a 400+ page web site dedicated to him and his music at http://everon.info
Jerry Riopelle, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, CSNY, Neil Young, Eagles, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Jerry Jeff Walker, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Toby Keith, Tracy Lawrence, Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Seger, Arlo Guthrie, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Bonnie Raitt, Garth - no last name necessary because there is only one Garth, Eric Clapton, Charly Pride, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, Jackson Browne

THE ARTICLES OF FAITH
: OF
THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS
History of the Church,
Vol. 4, pp.
535—541
1 We:
a believe
in b God ,
the Eternal Father, and in His c Son ,
Jesus Christ, and in the d Holy
Ghost.
2 We believe that men will be a punished
for their b own
sins, and not for Adam’s c transgression .
3 We believe that through the a Atonement
of Christ, all b mankind
may be c saved ,
by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
4 We believe that the first
principles and a ordinances
of the Gospel are: first, b Faith
in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, c Repentance ;
third, d Baptism
by e immersion
for the f remission
of sins; fourth, Laying on of g hands
for the h gift
of the Holy Ghost.
5 We believe that a man must be a called
of God, by b prophecy ,
and by the laying on of c hands
by those who are in d authority ,
to e preach
the Gospel and administer in the f ordinances
thereof.
6 We believe in the same a organization
that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, b prophets ,
c pastors ,
d teachers ,
e evangelists ,
and so forth.
7 We believe in the a gift
of b tongues ,
c prophecy ,
d revelation ,
e visions ,
f healing ,
g interpretation
of tongues, and so forth.
8 We believe the a Bible
to be the b word
of God as far as it is translated c correctly ;
we also believe the d Book
of Mormon to be the word of God.
9 We believe all that God has a revealed ,
all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet b reveal
many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.
10 We believe in the literal a gathering
of Israel and in the restoration of the b Ten
Tribes; that c Zion
(the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that
Christ will d reign
personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be e renewed
and receive its f paradisiacal
g glory .
11 We claim the a privilege
of worshiping Almighty God according to the b dictates
of our own c conscience ,
and allow all men the same privilege, let them d worship
how, where, or what they may.
12 We believe in being a subject
to b kings ,
presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in c obeying ,
honoring, and sustaining the d law .
13 a We
believe in being b honest ,
true, c chaste ,
d benevolent ,
virtuous, and in doing e good
to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of
Paul—We believe all things, we f hope
all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to g endure
all things. If there is anything h virtuous ,
i lovely ,
or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.
