The Radiant Men are based around songs written by Malcolm Le Maistre, a former member of the legendary Incredible String Band. They sing about unusual things. Animals, fish, fruit and vegetables, crisp bags, geology as well as cricketers and ships stewards. Some of The Radiant Men are women! Mumbai Sunset: an EP is about to become available Later this year they will be releasing their first album.
The Radiant Men are releasing a song called Sachin Tendulkar. The song celebrates Sachin the man and Sachin the cricketer. With the Indian cricket team touring during the rest of the summer we feel it is an appropriate moment to let people hear our song. It will be released on an EP with two other songs with a Mumbai theme : Mumbai Shove and Gujarati King. We are seeking endorsement from Sachin himself and are planning to donate part of any money made to the children of Mumbai. At present we are releasing the song(s) on our own DaisyDog Records label through the internet. Initially this will be via our website and MySpace.
Back Story: A note from Malcolm Le Maistre
In the spring of 2006 I visited my daughter in Mumbai (she is a teacher at the Rudolf Steiner School there). It was frankly one of the great experiences of my life and I felt compelled to write some songs about things I saw and people I met. I was also very aware of Mr Tendulkar as he was in the papers every day and as I am also a passionate cricket fan it seemed natural to write a song about him. Being in Mumbai (my daughter lives in the Ville Parle district) was like being in continuous dance and hope these songs convey some of its colour, beauty and madness.
