this is going to be just another way to contact students with updated information... and a way that you can contact me... about issues that you feel are important!A quick glance at the ECU Art Department will reveal students striving to develop their own style. Their work ranges in media and method from cutting edge to traditional. Each student is engaged in a struggle for their own vision; they are not disciples of a particular faculty member. The students exhibit their work widely in student and professional exhibitions. Program graduates use these experiences in graduate school, teaching, as studio artists or illustrators, as gallery coordinators, and in industry.
The art department serves a little more than 350 students each semester. However, it is our majors that are the core and strength of the department. There are approximately 60 art majors currently enrolled at this time. These individuals share a strong and active interest in the visual arts, even though they come from widely varied backgrounds. Indeed the department is proud of its diversity. Students from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East attend shoulder to shoulder with students from cities and small towns in Oklahoma and Texas.
The students also maintain an active Art Club, sponsoring cultural activities such as museum trips, gallery openings, parties, and an avante garde film festival. Dues are only five dollars per semester and non-majors are encouraged to join.
