About Me

So what is a ‘nonameadam’ anyway? It’s a one man band, and that one man is Adam Emanon who is an independent multi-instrumentalist composer, songwriter, producer and engineer, currently residing in one of the best music scenes in Canada - Toronto.

While Adam is not native to the city (grew up in Oshawa, ON), he has already begun to draw inspiration from Toronto. A change of scenery is sometimes all it takes to spark that needed bit of inspiration to tackle a new project. And new projects abound! Adam is working on his 3rd solo album “Transparency”, as well as 2 instrumental EPs.

Following full albums in 2006 and 2007, and with lessons learned from both outings, some time was spent focusing on instrumental projects (resulting in two separate EPs), but Adam is back to the microphone and the lyrics sheet now. The latest effort ("Transparency") is nearly complete. On this album Adam looks to tackle many subjects, none of them particularly easy subject matter. "I don't feel the need to write happy, 'everything's gonna be OK' type songs. There's enough artists doing that. I'm not a pessimist I just want to confront what so many people seemingly choose to ignore. I'm not going to waste any time with shallow or irrelevant thoughts".

Adam's compositions span the rock music gamut due to drawing from a wide range of influences (from Madonna to Meshuggah and more). And as time goes on, the styles he explores only further diversify. Adam's music ranges from jazz-metal hybrids to ambient/symphonic pieces to haunting gothic/industrial metal to standard hard rockers, and more. If he can pull it off, it's fair game.

As Adam continues to write rock songs for solo albums, he also continues to work on new musical ideas, whatever their application may be. Having grown up on video games, Adam is no stranger to video game music ranging from the 8 bit playgrounds of yesteryear to modern epics like the music found in the Halo series of games, as an example. His motto is “if it sounds cool and it's not too simple, then go with it and see what happens”. And being able to record and produce all of his own music is fruitful, despite being a little more time consuming. "I think I generally find a good balance between listener accessible and musically progressive, and that's exactly my goal".
