I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I love my family (especially the baby sis!), my man, and his dog. I like to get my hands dirty and play with kids, so I..m studying art education. Waiting tables at night gives me plenty of opportunity to practice using the patience and tolerance I'm sure will be needed when I get into the classroom. When I grow up, I want to be a world traveller and people-studier. I love to cook, but maybe just because I love to eat. I think the world would be a better place without sorry-a$$ produce, liars, dirty dishes, being broke, math you don..t use in real life, store-bought cookies, missed opportunities, bad drivers, weak coffee, people who don..t tip, cold weather, and drama.

..

My Interests

Playing with clay, cooking for and feeding people I love, dancing, growing herbs, sunbathing, playing tennis (poorly), playing outside at all, farmers markets, drinking ginger tea on rainy days, having Thai of the Month with my sister Birdie, travel, good movies, wine, Pablo Neruda, Quakerism.

I'd like to meet:

Cool, laid back, conscious people... friends I haven't connected with for a while.

Music:

I pretty much like good music from all genres. Except country. I don't like country no matter how great it is. At all. Or that "dance" crap they play in some clubs that makes my head hurt. I don't even know what it's called. I try to block it out of my memory. Some of this week's favorites are Marvin Gaye, Beastie Boys, Weezer, Norah Jones, Res, The Roots, (always) Mos Def...

Movies:

The Mystery of Picasso

Time lapse of Pablo Picasso painting in oils, allowing us to see his creative process at work. Hero, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Next Stop Wonderland, Il Postino, Shawshank Redemption, The Professional, Woman On Top, Pretty In Pink, The Usual Suspects, A Time to Kill, Real Women Have Curves, Life is Beautiful, 50 First Dates, True Romance, A Pyromaniac..s Love Story and a whole bunch more.

Television:

Not that I actually have time to watch, but theoretically, I like Law and Order, CSI, and anything on Discovery channels or the Food Network.

Books:

Not that I have much time to read when I'm in school... but my goal for 07 is one new book a month.

My Blog

It has been over a month.

It has been over a month. Some days, I think I might start to feel better. Then I'm worse. Sometimes it hurts so much I can't breathe. Everything is changed. A lot of things have lost their importance...

Life Goals 2007

So I stopped doing New Year's Resolutions a while back, mostly because of the diametrically opposed combination of my own exceedingly high standards and pure laziness. This year, I've given it a lot o...

Happy Wednesday

I'm going to flunk a test today. Tomorrow, I've going to spend hours in my senior level classes cutting and pasting and making pretty pictures with glitter. I love school. It's my favorite! ...

"Sometimes I feel like a motherless child"

I get a call Thursday morning as I'm rushing out the door. I'm running late, but lates means that maybe I won't have that full hour I need before class to find a metered parking space and print the as...

papermaking and other futile acts

I have been making paper for days now. If anyone is looking for a fun, eco-friendly activity, and is interested in exploring the magic that is papermaking... don't. It sucks. It has taken a week of m...

No time like the present...

So I came up with the bright idea of using a semester project for my Adolescent Development class as an opportunity to search for my biological family. I explained to my professor that I'd been adopte...
