The MMF Canada focuses on three main principles: education through workshops and panels; providing networking platforms between music managers and other relative sectors in the music industry; and lobbying on behalf of its members on key issues that shape the future of music. With over 100 members nationally, the MMF Canada has grown to become a tool to unify music managers.

Education is the cornerstone of the Music Managers Forum Canada. The MMF Canada seeks to raise professional standards in management and upgrade the quality of Canadian artist managers. This is achieved by helping members develop management skills and expanding their knowledge of the music industry by means of panels, seminars, workshops, newsletters, mentoring and networking. One of the benefits of being a member of the MMF Canada is the opportunity to access the expertise and experience of top Canadian managers and, through our affiliates, top international managers.
In the current environment of evolving business models, it is the contention of the MMF Canada that artist managers play an increasingly significant role in artist development and in the delivery of the artist’s music to the consumer. As quoted by the German Popkomm Entertainment Awards founder Gerd Leonhard in the May 26, 2005 issue of Canadian Music Network magazine: “I think that artist managers will be the ones pushing the record guys into the new ecosystem - watch them take the lead in 2005 and 2006.â€
Through funding from Heritage Canada, the MMF Canada conducted the first ever comprehensive music manager survey in Canada in 2001. Both the anecdotal and qualitative responses supported the need for further and ongoing professional development within the management sector in Canada but more importantly in foreign territories. The MMF Canada believes that an annual management workshop and meetings with associations and key industry players will assist in raising its profile within Canada and around the world. In turn, this will also raise awareness and draw attention to all fourteen affiliated branches around the world including the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF) which acts as the umbrella to the MMF branches.
