John is a precocious young talent bringing banjo to a new generation. He was the first European, at the tender age of 21, to win the USA national banjo championship held at Winfield, Kansas. Still only 25, the BBC has picked up on his talent and he is featured along with Mark Knopfler, Jools Holland and Courtney Pine in a major new BBC1 music series to be aired in 2007. You can see the press release here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2006/ 10_october/21/play.shtmlJohn was first thrust into the media gaze when he won first place at the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award with his band The Black Cat Theory.Despite his busy schedule, John finds time to give master class tuition in both London and the North West. He also regularly gigs with his band Doghouse Central and is permanent guest with the bands Muddyhead, Bakers Fabulous Boys and The Gordonaires.John has a publishing deal with All-Media Music and is working in the studio on three new albums for release in the UK and America.
