About Me

I'm 28, born and raised in New Orleans. I have a BA in history and I'm a pretty opened minded person. Not much in life offends me or even causes me more than a moments duress. Not to say my life has been easy or simple, just that I usually deal with things quickly. I'm a poet and writer, although I am more often than not my own worst critic. I love reading anything from philosophy to fantasy. I use to read about one to two books a day and had a very extensive library. Hurricane Katrina did a fine job in washing all that away and sadly I have not picked up a serious book since. I love music, movies and there is a full list of my interests to the left. so stop reading this and check it out...

My Interests

This is a hard thing to list, lol. I have a ton of interests in life. There are so many things that are worth doing and knowing in life. Big things on my list are COFFEE, travel, history (particularly Ancient Egypt, Roman, Persian, Norse, and Early Middle Ages), having a good time, COFFEE, gaming, world politics, law, music (see below), mythologies, movies, books, poems, 24 hr coffee houses, botany, and anything that goes bump in the night. Take that last one anyway you like. The key to life is to not take it too seriously .

I'd like to meet:

Anyone who is interested in anything I am, or anyone who cares to look me up, or anyone who is willing to show me something new. I'm generally always up to meet people.

Music:

David Bowie, NIN, Pink Floyd, Cure, Cher, Wolfsheim, Wumpscut, Ramones, Laibach, Rammstein, MSI, Rob Zombie, The Beatles, Smiths, Tori Amos, Sting, most good music from the 80's . I'm very open to music and find things I like in many various styles. I don't like "fad" bands like backstreet boys, Nsync, or Brittany Spears. And yes, I weep for my state because Brittany Spears was raised here. If only someone had told her she had no talent when growing up, we all might have been spared. I like a lot of techno, industrial or anything else that really makes you want to get up and have a good time. Plus as a side note I use to play the sax, so I love some of the old blues from time to time.

Movies:

Ok, I love a lot of movies so here goes my condensed list. Dark Crystal, Mulan, Beauty and the Beast, Heathers, Big Trouble in Little China, Pump up the Volume, Hudson Hawk, Count of Monte Cristo, Pirates of the Carribean, Lawrence of Arabia (I love that movie), Princess Mononoke, Vampire Hunter D, Ghost in the Shell, Record of the Lodoss War, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Ocean's 11, Animal House, Fight Club, Psycho (Old version), Birds, Labyrinth, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Interview with the Vampire (another favorite), The Crow, Reservoir Dogs, Devil's Advocate, City of lost children (another favorite), Princess bride (a must see for anyone), Moulin Rouge, The postman, Ladyhawke, Willow, Sleepy Hollow, A Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Blade, Blade III, Spiderman 1 & 2, Dogma, Mallrats, Jay and Silent Bob strike back, Star Wars 4-6, Batman 1-3, Daredevil, Punisher, Breakfast at Tiffany's (Audrey Hepburn is stunning in this), High Fidelity, Gross Point Blank, Matrix, Highlander (first one), Braveheart, Elizabeth, 13th Warrior (I've read the actual text from Ibn Fadlan), Sense and Sensability, American Sweethearts, and The Mask of Zorro. So that's my short list *smirk*.

Television:

I don't watch a lot of television, it keeps me from doing more fun things with my time. I use to watch a lot of the discovery channel and such but that was ruined for me. Ask me about it sometime, it's kind of funny but you won't be able to watch it the same way again.

Books:

Ok, so if you've read everything else up to this point you know I read a lot. So I'll list off a couple of my favorites to date. Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance, The complete works of William Shakespeare, The complete works of H.P. Lovecraft, The complete works of Edgar Allen Poe, The complete works of Lord Byron and Percy Shelley, The Stranger, Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends, In search of Arthur, Johnny got his gun, Princess Bride, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Spares, The Sherlock Holmes series, Good Omens, Sword of Truth series by Goodkind, A dozen black roses, Lost Souls, The letters of Henry VIII, Ramses II, The complete book of swords, Secret from the sands, Abelhard and Heloise, Norse Mythology, Classical Mythology, Egyptian Mythology, Justinian's War: Belisarius, Narses and the reconquest of the west, The Roman Soldier, The Odyssesy, The Illiad, What Life was like of the shore of the Nile, Aristotle's Ethics, The War of the Spiderqueen series, and American Gods. I have a lot more, but if I don't stop here then I'll just keep going.

Heroes:

My heroes are a bit slim to be honest. Some of them aren't very good heroes to others, but I have my reasons. Belisarius, Walsingham, Julius Caesar, Alexander the Great, Aristotle, Any of the authors of the books I read (see above), People who know only how to love completely and without worry or fear, Those who have the courage to do what is needed in life even if they don't like it. Women who know pain but find the strength to trust again. And anyone who through their faults strive to keep going and have the strength to carry on.
