ARNAB CHAKRABORTYhails from India. A regular live performer since the age of 15; he started his career by singing advertisement jingles, remixes and regional movie songs. Within a few years of hard work Arnab got the big break he was waiting for. His song 'Wada Raha Pyar Se Pyar Ka' from the film 'Khakee' released in the year 2004 climbed the popularity charts very quickly and he was nominated for The Best Male Playback Singer at The Zee Cine Awards 2005 held at The Excel Arena in London. His next offering was 'Qatra Qatra' from the movie 'FAMILY', (2006), music by Ram Sampath and directed by RajKumar Santoshi. Like in 'Khakee' he is the voice of actor Akshay Kumar in 'Family' too. Along with 'Qatra Qatra' the movie also features Arnab’s vocals in two more songs, 'Janam Janam' and 'Quick Byte'.Apart from Hindi, English and Bengali Arnab has sung in Assamese, Oriya, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Telegu and many other Indian languages.
His latest offering is 'NAAM', his debut solo indipop album, out now on Times Music. It has music by Dony Hazarika and lyrics by Amit Singh and Amitabh Bhattacharya. In ‘Naam’ he presents a pleasant shower of melodies sprinkled with the flavour of Indian folk mixed with western beats and styles inspired from genres such as reggae and country. The enchanting rhythm and the sweet yet engaging mystical voice of Arnab tug at every heart gently asking them to delve into the intensity of the songs. The underlying theme of romance unites these melodies. The title song ‘Naam’ is based on the folk tradition of Bengal called ‘Baul’ and is devoted to the Eternal Truth – Life. The video song ‘Aietbaar’ is an Indian interpretation of a western country ballad. All in all this is an album which will captivate every mood of the listeners.
