good for you, little guy!
....
i am so tired of people writing crap like 'kill your television,' or 'i don't even own a tv,' in their profiles, then going on to list a bunch of shitty-ass movies they have no problem admitting they like. television, like any medium, has the capacity to be interesting and entertaining or mind-numbingly terrible. furthermore, television, unlike film, has the unique opportunity to show an extended, sometimes several seasons long story arc, where viewers can watch a character or plot line develop over years rather than two hours. obviously not everything on television is worth watching, but i'd wager it's about the same percentage of quality versus crap as the movie industry. i haven't seen a movie in years (possibly ever) that's as funny as arrested development, or a better crime drama than the wire, or a creepier, more interesting supernatural thriller than carnivale. quit being such snobs- you're certainly not that discriminating in other aspects of your lives.
hmm. i don't know why, but i can't add pictures for this category. guess my lazy ass'll just have to type them out. miranda july's "no one belongs here more than you" was awesome, as is "learning to love you more," which is a collection of some of the art projects featured on the site of the same name. "plainsong," by kent haruf, was a fantastic, touching, well-written book, and i'm excited to read more of his stuff. i just finished "cruddy," by lynda barry, and let me tell you, that book was something else. holy crap was it good. holy crap. sad and terrifying at the same time. read it.
