Ru Boy Bio
Yung Ru, “The Yung Ruler,†to be exact Ru Boy for short is one part of the movement or the group or family if you will, known as The “Street Fella Candidates’†a product of the Nashville TN Hip Hop underground. Ru Boy began pursuing his rap career at the young age of 15, doing local shows and constantly recording new music thru all different phases of his young adolescent life. Coming from East Nashville’s own North 5th a high crime and drug traffic area provided figures in his life to understand what it truly meant to push The Yung Ruler to strive for bigger and better things. With his high energy flow along with a nice amount of hood swag, as a matter of fact “Cashville†swag, Ru Boy paints his lyrical portraits of the Cashville city streets striving to promote “edutainment†instead of entertainment presenting a visual eye on the true feeling of the so-called street child over production from such upcoming producers like: DJ Charlie Brown, Hotrod, I.V, and The Trackbunners
His first claim to fame was at Glencliff High school where he created a group called TFP (Thuggin for a Purpose) he helped five groups to merge into a super group, it was his way of bringing all the artist’s in the entire school together creating a better outlet for their music on the high school scene simultaneously getting prominent radio support from Dolewite & Scooby making frequent stops to the school to show support of the young group’s local endeavors. Ru Boy is apart of The “Street Fellaz†who dropped their first street album in 04 “The Canidats†have been getting an excellent response from the DJ’s and local talent of the city. Later Ru Boy enrolled in to Nashville Tech where he received his certification in Audio engineering where he then transferred to M.T.S.U where he dropped “My Hood Vol. 1 -We some problemsâ€. “My hood vol. 1 shocked a lot of people from the intro. I tried to blend the streets with an eclectic neo-soul sound with a talented upcoming artist Alexis Nicole; she gave Ru Boy a sound that he or his peers never expected. Gaining a great deal of respect from his peers for his works and showing his appreciation for music. Ru Boy features on group member JTE Tha Franchize’s “The Bigger Picture†and local artist T- Q u The Hurricane†Hurricane Season†both in 2008. Now in the middle of production of a new
Street Fella Project and also another solo project Titled Never Solo, he hopes to create a lane for himself and his movement as well. In his aspiration to encourage his community to elevate on all levels of life he is currently in the closing stages of his college career at Middle Tenn. State University where he is an active member of Collegiate 100 as well as a full time student and artist showing sides of the so called generation -X America never would expect. Ru Boy is now in the creation of his first non-profit organization for inner city youth which he hopes to have along side of his graduation date. With his music as well as his lifestyle he hopes to promote reality and what can be achieved if one applies themselves.
