Skin to Skin

About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)PRESS (cds and live-gigs): "an evocative collection of songs...well put together, tightly connected around the themes of hope and loss, love and despair...Skin to Skin's musical form is in the singer songwriter tradition...dramatic and fateful...comparable to musicians like PJ Harvey, the Bad Seeds and Nick Cave...and sometimes you can even hear echoes of Steeley Span and the contemplative forests of Jackie Leven...very impressive in many ways" SYDSVENSKA DAGBLADET (SWE) "dramatic...melancolic, unobtrusive and naked...Like a slow ripple in the desert-sand the day after the catastrophe...the atmosphere is fateful...Lena Måndotter and Ronnie Hall are convincing in their singing about loss of love and the Babylon Tower, to the accompaniment of acoustic guitars, strings and laidback drums...Evocative" DAGENS NYHETER (SWE) "excellent songs, in the same musical spirit as Walkabouts and Cowboy Junkies. Lena Måndotters dark and lightly veiled voice also reminds me of the singer Margo Timmis. The other songwriter and singer, irish born, Ronnie Hall gives the songs a beneficial folky touch which leads my thoughts to musicians like Richard Thompson. And Skin to Skins way of mixing harmonica with lots of cello and violin gets me finally on my knees." GROOVE MUSICMAGAZINE (SWE) "great songs about the state of the world...the performance does not resemble anything else on the Swedish music-stages right now...the concert goes against the mainstream and challenges the predictable and wellknown, in a unique mix of serious spirituality with political undertones - not overtones...and the music really swings...an outstanding and exciting music-performance. And those of you who can't see the concert Walking on Water can buy the cd." SKÅNSKA DAGBLADET (SWE) "Skin to Skin is an exciting band with big potential. Their music is a tasteful and alternative mix of folkmusic, pop, rock and classical avantgarde-music; a seductive cultural clash. Seeing them live at the Hultsfred-festival, they're doing an excellent gig, while competing and playing at the same time as Radiohead...Through their talented musicianship one realises this is profound art!" ROCKPARTY MAGAZINE, reviews on the web (SWE) "the music creates connection and sense...it's tightly held in a laidback way but there are also some heavier, even explosive, parts...Lena Måndotter's strong vocals and Ronnie Halls darker songs give the music it's natural centre. The acoustic accompaniment is intuitive and there are some powerful solos...Hearing Skin to Skin live on stage give even more energy to these songs" SVENSKA DAGBLADET (SWE) ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------------------- OH WELL: Skin to Skin just believe in music from the heart. No fuzz. No hype. Just the acoustic songs cause that's all that remains at the end of the broken road. They have toured extensively to many known and unknown places: Hultsfredsfestivalen, Arvikafestivalen, Kulturbolaget in Malmö, El Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, Berwaldhallen in Stockholm, Loppen in Copenhagen, Kafé 44 in Stockholm and Pusterviksteatern and Musikhuset in Gothenburg. Lately they've also started to interpretate other composers' songs and their last concert-series were called Pilgrimsongs (which included songs of Leonard Cohen, Tim Buckley, Brendan Perry and many others). The audience gave a very warm response which inspires them to go on.
