About Me
DALKE, Deborah (Jewett) "Ma" Deborah (Jewett) Dalke, "Ma", 46, of Plainville, formerly of Southington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday (July 13, 2008). She was born in Waterbury on May 15, 1962, one of four children to William Jewett of Florida, and the late Marion (Lacy) Jewett. She was a longtime resident of Southington and Plainville, and attended Southington High School. Her greatest passion was her work as a mentor and horse trainer, and teaching disabled children and adults the art of horseback riding. Above all, she was devoted to being the best mother she could be. For many years, she was a devoted member of the team at Hillside Equestrian Meadows in Wolcott, where she leaves many friends, co-workers, and the S.P. Kids that she loved very much. Deborah was a woman who felt at home in the outdoors, loved the beach, was one with nature, and enjoyed any activity where she could enjoy the beauty of the environment. She made lifelong friends along her many journeys, and will be remembered for her sense of humor and kind-hearted personality. She leaves her daughter, Amber Dalke of Orlando, FL; her granddaughter, Avajade Lacy, who was the light of her life; her former husband, Don Dalke, with whom she made her home; her sister, Jeanne Jewett of Orlando, FL; her brother, John Jewett of Idaho and her half brother, Bill Jewett of Higganum; her two godchildren and many nieces and nephews, including Justin of New Jersey and Desteny of Higganum; all who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her brother, Steven Jewett. A celebration of Deborah's life will be held on Saturday, July 19 beginning at 11 a.m. at Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St, Plainville. Relatives and friends may gather one hour prior to the service, from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately, at the convenience of the family.
