Roel Vanhoeck plays the alto saxophone and learned how to play alongside Frank Vaganee at the Lemmens Conservatory. Branford Marsalis is a big inspiration for Roel. In the past he had a lot of fun playing for" Vacuum child" and "Monk by four"
Iwan Cotton blows audiences and cigarette smoke away with his trumpet. He was taught the tricks of the trade by Gino Latucca and Peter Kox. His melodies wink towards Don Cherry and Lester Bowie.
On the electric bass.... Stijn Possemiers. After going to classes given by Nic Thijs in the Antwerp conservatory (when he didn't skip of course), he played in several bands and agreed a year ago joyfully to play in our quintet. He also grooves with "The Humb", a hip hop band.
Peter Verhelst plays the guitar in the "Van Nistelrooy Quintet". He attended the Lemmens Institute, and he tried his compositions out with bands like Triolone and Luz de Luna.
And , last but not least, the one and only Mr Yvan Van Nistelrooy. Our selfmade man builds houses of music (literally!!). He puts the beats into Vacuum Child and other rock and jazz bands. He went to classes given by Yves Peeters and he really puts his own ideas into things by"thinking music" and Orval. His drumroll introduces the "Van Nistelrooy Quintet"!!!
