About Me

Fernando Knopf was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Bass Guitarist, Singer, Pianist, Composer, Arranger and Producer. Fernando began studying Piano, Electric Bass, Music theory and vocal training at age of 14 with private teachers in Buenos Aires, focusing in Jazz and Latin American rhythms. In 1996 Knopf left Argentina and moved to Tel Aviv, Israel. In the new country he received a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee affiliated Rimon College of Jazz and Contemporary Music, receiving a Jazz Performing Major in 2000. From 2001 thru 2009 Fernando performed and recorded abroad with International Artists including: Pianist Alon Yavnai (Paquito D'Rivera), Tour with singer Deborah Brown (USA), Vocalist Nancy King (USA), pianist Steve Cristoffersson (USA), Drummer Vince Cherico (NYC), Conguero Robert Quintero (USA), Saxophonist Eli Degibri (NYC) at the Red Sea Jazz Festival 2003, Drumer Norberto Goldberg (NYC), Italo Gonzales (Chile), Bandonionist Eduardo Abramson (Argentina), Oud Player and Violinist Yair Dallal, Ilan Salem, Amikam Kimelman, Guri Agmon & The Holon Jazz Big Band, The Tel Aviv Jazz Big Band, Israel Kibbutz Orchestra, The Israel Chamber Orchestra, The Jerusalem Salsa Band, Eric Niceberg, Laila Malcos, Flamenco Guitarist Baldi Olier, singer Yoram Gaon, Musical Sweet Charity, Uri Miles, Kahol Irish Band and many more.In 2004 Fernando formed his own Band, a fusion of Latin American/Caribbean rhythms, Jazz, original songs, compositions and arrangements. The Group performed extensively for 3 years. From 2005 till today Mr. Knopf is also the Musical Director of THE ISRAEL SALSA BAND, a world class Salsa Band. In 2006 Fernando released worldwide his Debut CD with his Band, with the collaboration of distinguished Guest Artists. In November 2005 Fernando was granted and distinguished in Buenos Aires, Argentina with the 2005 Jewish Cultural Achievement Award. On July 2006 Fernando was part of a special interview with Maestro Lalo Schifrin. In 2008 Fernando formed his NEW QUINTET. The Music is a combination of original songs/ compositions and powerful arrangemets with Latin Jazz. Creating a fascinating fusion of songs with Cuban, Brazilian, Latin rhythms, Funk and Jazz!Currently Fernando is performing abroad with world class Artists and with his New Quintet and has performed with big success at the highly acclaimed Red Sea International Jazz Festival (2002, 2003, 2005), Tel Aviv Museum of Arts, Kikar Rabin (Rabin Square) 2007, Jerusalem Theatre, Haifa Theatre, Tel Aviv Jazz Festival 2007, Mercaz Enav Theatre, Eilat Salsa Festival 2006, Zappa Goldstar Club, Kamelot Club, Shablul Club, and many more.Fernando has performed in Argentina, USA, Israel, Spain, Ciprus, Turkia and more. In addition, Fernando teaches at the Berklee affiliated "Rimon College of Jazz and Contemporary Music". He directs the Latin Jazz-Salsa Orchestra, Latin American Music History, Workshops and more.
