About Me

I edited my profile with All City Visual's V1
It is 11:00 PM and a caravan of vehicles pulls up in unison outside of the famed Cotton Club in Richmond, Virginia. By 11:10, the caravan’s populace has formed a tight group outside of the throbbing VA nightclub. The curious club goers gaze at the group, though it takes only a second for them to realize that there is a star in their midst. In the center of the lively entourage, stands Fred the Godson, surrounded by a faithful assembly of friends, management, security and co-performers. The image is enough to intrigue the line of people awaiting entrance to the venue, who suddenly get lost in a fury of whispers. “Who’s that?” they ask; “you see that chain…Is that the performer?” The scene is so Hollywood; Fred, the entourage, the fancy cars, the jewelry, the girls feigning, the guys grilling, the swagger. By 11:20 the group makes its way past the velvet ropes, to the club entrance and the crowd is convinced that Fred the Godson looks the part of a star; but the question on everyone’s mind is, can he spit? Better yet, can this relatively unknown New Yorker hold his own while performing as the opening act for another popular southern rapper, whose number one hit was blazing charts nation wide? By 11:40 the Cotton Club is full. Fred and his entourage are situated in the VIP awaiting his performance call, and the crowd hovers over the dance floor awaiting the show’s commencement. By 12:00 the DJ stops the music and the crowd shifts toward the stage. The Virginia audience watches wearily as Fred, the New York aspiring artist, hits the sage. By 12:05 Fred has completed his first song and its official; not only can he walk the walk, but apparently Fred can talk the talk. The crowd is exhilarated by the heat coming through the microphone, as he continues to deliver his lyrical fire. Watching him on stage, it is clear that Fred the Godson is a force that is conquering the hip hop nation state by state, stage by stage, lyric by lyric. As he hits his last song, the crowd goes wild. Mid way through the track, Middle finger to The Law, Fred roars: “I got 60,000 worth of jewels with no deal” It’s true that Fred is shining. His fabulous image is up to par with many of the hip hop heavy weights gracing a TV screen near you. But none of this really matters until Fred opens his mouth, instantly proving that he is the complete package. Fred’s star quite literally shines as he takes on the music world without a deal, and he will undoubtedly continue to shine throughout his pursuit of recognition and even thereafter. However, it is his incredible life story that explains why Fred stands out in an industry full of pretenders, as the real thing. Fred, a New York native, was born and bred in the South Bronx. He spent his early days learning the harsh realities of life on 156th & Fox, an area submerged in drug wars that he struggled to evade. Conversely, Fred sought refuge in his large family. Though he came from a two parent household, life was nonetheless rough as they struggled to provide for six children. His family saw many hardships and tragedies living in the merciless Bronx ghetto. He watched his house burn down; he experienced life in a shelter and had to live a desolate existence at a young age. While life seemed dim to Fred, he was still determined to shine, and find a way to conquer his sorrows. Fred eventually enrolled at Monroe high school, but was affected by the temptations that led him away from his studies and into the streets. He mixed in with the wrong crowd, and the combined pressures from his peers and home life prevented him from graduating. Fred had reached a low point in his life. On top of his scholastic disappointments, Fred suffered from Kidney disease, Asthma, and Diabetes. A number of factors culminated to make Fred’s life harder than that of most adolescents his age, however, still he persevered. One of the factors that allowed Fred to persist through the tougher times in his life was music. He recalls falling in love with music, and the hip hop genre more specifically, after seeing MC Hammer. He quickly gained an appreciation for the performance aspects of Hammer’s work. At the age of fifteen, Fred also discovered that he had a special talent. He had an exceptional aptitude at working with words. Fred eventually combined this verbal propensity with his love for music, and found his niche. After becoming further enthralled with early hip hop acts, Fred began allowing this new love to penetrate every aspect of his existence. He began to put his life into the language of rap music, and so began his ascent to lyrical greatness. By the time Fred turned twenty, he had mastered the art of verbal composition. As he matured he became more confident, and subsequently his flow evolved. Accordingly, his punch lines became fiercer, and his songs improved drastically. He was inspired by the work of artists like Jay-Z, and worked toward creating a repertoire equally as strong. In recent years Fred has taken more far-reaching steps in terms of pursuing a professional career in rap. In purchasing a studio, investing money into promotional tools and seeking new management, Fred has successively taken all necessary precautions in terms of honing his craft. In addition, he has made major accomplishments and personal achievements as far as advancing and bettering his position in the industry by performing in different states, seeking radio promotion and exposing the public to his music by any means possible. Finally, Fred has succeeded in his endeavors with support from T.B.M., Loose Kannons, Draft Entertainment. Fred’s unorthodox rapping technique has landed him major meetings with Shady, Sony, BadBoy, Ruff Ryders and Loud (SRC). He has performed at popular venues such as Sob's, Don Hills, Temple, and opened up for Interscope artist Rich Boy. Fred is also co-signed by Riggs Morales of Shady Records, Super Producer Clark Kent, Dee & Waah of Ruff Ryders as well as Til Welch of Virgin. His achievements in the music industry have gained him widespread recognition, allowing for his star to continually shine as he climbs the hip hop ladder to prominence. In an industry so heavily populated with aspiring artists, each with their own claim to fame, Fred the Godson stands out as a superior and deserving artist. His style and libretto are unique and versatile. His witty flow compliments the genuine authenticity of his music’s content. His real life experiences penetrate the psyche’s of his listeners allowing them to vibe on a personal level. Equally important, Fred consistently demonstrates a predisposition for making hit records. In essence, he is the truth.
