Lamont Fletcher was born May 17, 1988 in Winston-Salem, NC to the proud parents of Alicia F. Hoggard and Torrus Wilborn. It was seven years later when his mother heard her son sing the song "This Little Light of Mine", and knew from there that a star was amongst us. Lamont began singing in churches to singing in weddings, funerals, banquets, parties, and even singing for the Mayor of Winston-Salem. By the age of 10, Lamont began competing in talent shows, winning first place on numerous occasions. Lamont landed his first management contract with Hit Maker Management. At 13, Lamont opened for Solonge Knowles, sister of Beyonce Knowles, at the NAACP Annual Youth Celebration in Greensboro, NC. He would later go on to performe at the Lil Romeo/Bow Wow concert in Atlanta, GA. When Lamont turned 14, he had joined an all male R&B singing group called NC3. Lamont was a member of the band for one year and realized that everyone in the group was not as serious about music as he was. Lamont then went off and started his solo career at the age of 15. He added performances with the North Carolina Black Repertory Theater in plays such as "Black Nativity", "Brother Don't Cope", and the hit play "Mahalia Jackson." At the University of North Carolina, he starred in "Beauty and the Beast", and "God's Army", as well as many other productions in various theater companies. On an odyssey around the country, traveling from state to state, city to city, Lamont developed a name for himself as the "Power House." Everywhere Lamont went he always knew how to make his audience scream, cry, and shout, all at the young age of 16. Lamont later went and auditioned for the hit show American Idol, being placed in the top 100 out of 150,000 people that made it through the first round of competitions. Lamont moved on and later went and competed in the Mega Voices Barrino Competition winining best male soul, best male vocals, and overall R&B winner of the 2005 competition. In that same year, he began working in the recording studio on his music demo. The year 2006 proved to be successful as he sang backup for recording artist Faith Evans, and was asked to sing the National Anthem for the NBA Chicago Bulls' basketball game that was sponsored by the National Breast Cancer Association. Lamont has also had the opportunity to tour and perform during halftime with the And-1 basketball team while they were in North Carolina with recording artist Cezo Da Boss. next level. Since Lamont has opened for Super Jams, Summer Jams, and many recording artists of today such as T.I., Paul Wall, Three 6 Mafia, Kesha Cole, Monica, Young Joc, Ludacris, Fantasia Barrino, and many more. Young Fletcher became the new stage name after accomplishing so much at a young age. At 18, Young Fletcher is now recording his Mix-CD that will be released early in 2007, entitled "Gwop-Up." He is now currently signed with Gwop Up Records and has been getting rave reviews with his hit single, "Know Ya Name". His self-titled album will debut in the summer of 2007. Young Fletcher's drive in his career is to become a young male role model for today's generations, saying not to ever give up on your dreams.
