About Me

Pet overpopulation is a community problem that costs taxpayers hundreds of thousand of dollars each year, puts overwhelming burdens on area shelters and creates health and safety problems for neighborhoods. It is estimated nearly 15,000 to 20,000 cats and dogs are euthanized (killed) in our area shelters throughout the Greater Kansas City area. A tragic but preventable problem. Our area shelters work extremely hard to find their shelter pets new homes but more animals continue to enter the back doors of shelters then those that go out the front door, there are simply not enough homes for them all.
Adoption alone, while important, simply cannot solve the problem. The number of animals entering the shelters (intake) must be reduced. Spaying and neutering the animals most likely to contribute to pet overpopulation is essential to reducing intake, euthanasia and other animal control costs.
Those high-risk animals include:

• Litters of kittens and mixed breed pups and their mothers,
• Non-neutered pets (who are more likely to roam and be aggressive than neutered pets),
• Unlicensed and unvaccinated pets, and
• Pets of lower income residents

• Providing our services only for pet owners who demonstrate financial need,
• Not turning away any pet owners because of their inability to pay,
• Promoting responsible pet ownership through our Outreach Program (We do not wait for pet owners to call us; we seek out the pets at highest risk of contributing to pet overpopulation),
• Using donor dollars for delivery of services to the public,
• Assisting abused and neglected animals in our community.
Spay & Neuter Kansas City depends on the support of the community to continue our mission. Donating to SNKC will help spay and neuter more pets and allow us to continue our programs.
Pet Outreach Program
The SNKC Pet Outreach Program is a very important part of our Organization. The Outreach Program is helping improve the lives of thousands of pets in our community and is reaching those pets that might otherwise be forgotten. This is truly a life saving program. For more information visit our website at www.snkc.net.
Volunteer! - SNKC is always in need of highly motivated volunteers to assist at our monthly clinics and we are actively seeking volunteers with creative marketing skills to help increase public awareness of this tragedy.
Donate! - Donating to spay and neuter just one pet potentially saves thousands of lives.
Spay & Neuter Kansas City spayed and neutered over 5,000 needy pets in our community in 2008. Thank you to all of our donors, volunteers, veterinarians, supporters and staff.
