THE VOODOO GODZ are flying the old school Punk Rock flag as invented by the Class of ..77 – Buzzcocks, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Dead Boys, and the godfathers Iggy & the Stooges. They're from Frankfurt, Germany, and out to trash your favourite local club. Just follow the noise, Punk forever!

THE VOODOO GODZ – Old Fashion, Old Passion. Punk Rock der ersten Stunde bis der Sargdeckel knallt. The Buzzcocks, Iggy & the Stooges, Ramones, Sex Pistols, Dead Boys und die anderen üblichen Verdächtigen aus den Siebziger Jahren lungerten bei der Geburt dieser Band kettenrauchend vor dem Kreißsaal herum. Dieses Geburtstrauma wird bei jedem THE VOODOO GODZ- Konzert mit dem Covern einiger Punk-Klassiker vertrieben. THE VOODOO GODZ – bald auch in einem Absturzladen in Deiner Nähe. Immer dem Krach nach. THE STRAIGHT A’s compositions are influenced by a whole range of different stylistic elements. The band has incorporated its musical idols and after a transformation which may take years it spits them out as a steaming hot and pulsing mixture combining the energy of punk, the 60’s driving rhythms and the catching melodies of Motown Soul.

The Straight A performs since the End of 2005 as a classical three-piece – guitar, bass and drums. The musicians from Frankfurt and Darmstadt each used to play in various other bands or session groups. The band’s influences range from the raw power protopunk of the Stooges and MC5 up to current groups like The (International) Noise Conspiracy, The Flaming Sideburns, New Bomb Turks and The Hellacopters. Furthermore their music is inspired by the sound of The Who and The Rolling Stones. On a “school of rock”, fans of commercialised rock and technical tittle-tattle might not give the band a “Straight A”, but those who prefer a raw, dirty rock'n'roll sound will always invite The Straight A to their next school party.

Ein Wort ans deutschsprachige Publikum: "The Straight A" bedeutet übersetzt "Die glatte Eins". Der Name ist aus einer eher selbstironischen Laune heraus entstanden - was Kenner jedoch nicht davon abhält, immer wieder auch reale Bestnoten an die Band zu vergeben. Ingrate steht für klassischen Punkrock - nur das für die 4 Bandmitglieder die Zeit nicht stehengeblieben ist.

Ingrate steht für Bühnenpower, Melodie und Tempo.

Der Gesang wurde bereits mit nahezu allen Größen der Punkrock-Welt verglichen, erinnert manchmal aber auch an Soullegenden wie z.B.Wilson Picket.

Der Gitarrist tobt dazu wie ein Wahnsinniger und es scheint gar das er es vermag aus seinem Instrument mehr herauszuholen als es dessen Erfinder je für möglich gehalten hätten.

Das ganze noch untermalt von einem Rhytmusduo, dem es gelingt stets ordentlichen Druck aufzubauen und in den gelegentlich auftauchenden ruhigeren Songparts die Spannung am Leben zu halten.

Ingrate klingen stets frisch obwohl sich die 4 Frankfurter ihre Sporen bereits in zahlreichen anderen Bands verdient haben.

Die meisten Läden in denen wir bisher spielten haben uns mehrere Male wieder eingeladen.
