Oceanhead

About Me

oceanhead is the ambient/filmic collaborative project started in the mid 90’s by then EMI house engineer and producer John Etkin-Bell. The project was briefly signed to EMI Records, toured live with Dean Cumberbatch fronting it but essentially it was a studio project involving different singers/lyricists. Once such collaboration was ‘Eyemotion’ (Re-titled for 2010 ‘Augensblick’) which was remixed by Mark Bell of Shaboom Records (Blakkats etc) amongst others. Augensblick was written after a chance meeting between Claudia Bruken of Propaganda and JB in a London recording studio. She wrote the lyric and sung it on his answerphone. Fast forward to 2010 and the fantastic Geek Boy Remix and we have a whole new angle. ‘Let’s Go Out’ was a similar collaboration with seminal art music svengali MERZ and also features the solo violin of John’s step father Russell Gilbert.Press. ‘It’s a shame that this record never saw the light of day and hit the charts in 1995. 15 years after its release John Etkin-Bell's ‘Eyemotion’ hasn’t lost any of its ambient charm. What Sandra’s voice accomplished for Michael Cretu’s Enigma, so does Claudia Brucken’s for this unique release. Her unmistakable voice gives this song the needed weightlessness to dive into the deep of your mind and to heal your wounds. Balm for your soul - chill out for your ears.’ Karl Hirschberger
