About Me

Matt was born on the 4th February 1984 and grew up on Englands South coast in Portsmouth, Hampshire. He attended Portchester Community School in a small town just out of the main city of Portsmouth, unknowingly along with his future "Three Weeks Notice" band-mates Lloyd Hinshlewood, Chris "Parrot" Gibbs and Mark Howkins.
Matts singing started after going to a local nightclub who happened to be hosting a national talent contest. After a few too many drinks, Matt signed himself up for the contest which he performed in the following month. The competition was the first time matt had performed infront of anybody and he received what seemed like the best reaction of the night. Unsuccessful because of his nerves, the club asked matt back to do a gig of his own outside of the contest which is when Matt decided to get the band together. Three Weeks Notice became a well known band in the local area, performing at gigs that stretched out to being special guest at a national talent search called Live and Unsigned, worked along the amazing singing talent of Louise Sotheren at gigs around the South of England. Eventually in 2006, Mark and Chris decided to persue personal ventures introducing two new faces into the band in the form of Lewis Evans and Ed Longstaff.
In November 2008, Matt performed as a solo act for the first time since before Three Weeks Notice when he reached the regional finals of Idol Uk 2008. The contest which pitted singers from around the UK against each other and was flooded with thousands of entrants saw Matt come down to the final 4 men in the South but due to having dedication to the band, he was unable to progress to the national finals.
2009 starts a new era for Matt as he is currently working on solo work and has plans to work along side a new manager at the turn of the new year. Matt has been working hard writing material for his album and plans to get some recordings down in the next few months and te album out by the summer.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members:

I've worked along side some great musicians and no doubt will be working with more in the future, below are the most recent, all withj their own myspace pages and other with new ventures which I wish them all the luck in the world with.

Former band members (Three Weeks Notice)

FIRST WAVE...
Lloyd Hinshlewood (L.Guitar) - 2006-2008
Mark Howkins (Bass) - 2006-2007
Chris "Parrot" Gibbs (Drums) - 20067-2007

SECOND COMING
Ed Longstaff (Bass) - 2007-2008
Lewis Evans (Drums) - 2007-2008

OTHER MUSICIANS
Louise Sotheran (Vocals) - Worked with TWN in 2007
Andy Wagstaff (L.Guitar) - Worked with MJ in 2008-2009
Influences:
Vocally there are too many influences to list. I aspire to be unique but there will always be a side of me that wishes he could sing like the Myles Kennedys, Alex Bands, Brent Smiths and frank Sanatras of the world, but as long as people enjoy my music the way that I sing it then to me, thats more then enough of an influence to carry on to do what I do.
Sounds Like:
If I was honest, I would have to admit that I'm still quizzing myself over the answer to who I sound like. If anybody has any suggestions to what bands/singers they think I'm similar to, feel free to drop me a message because I'm clueless!

Genre wise, I'd say rock is pretty close!
