MORRISON SLIDE: Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, Piano Tuner, Guitar Tech, Sound Engineer.....,
If it has to do with Music, Then it's on his list of accomplishments. Starting off on Drums at the age
of 7, and playing his first live gig a year later, (see picture) Morrison went on to master numerous
other Instruments including; Baritone Uke, Harmonica, Sarod, Banjo, & Recorder, before finally
settling on Acoustic & Electric Guitar, which to this day, remains his Instrument of choice. While
It's a given that any musician born in the early 60's would claim Rock & Roll as his primary genre,
Morrison also explored precursory genres such as Raga, Folk, Bluegrass, & Hard-Bop as well
as Delta & Early Chicago Blues. However it was the Punk Explosion of the mid 70's that solidified
his musical direction for the next decade or so. A breif stint in the Marine Corps exposed Morrison to a plethora of
influences, and provided the opportunity to play in numerous bands. After being honorably discharged , Morrison returned
to New York and formed the Punk/Hardcore band 'FeedBack' with fellow guitarist, Tim Campell.
However a twist of fate Landed Morrison in Southern California just in
time get caught up in one of the most prolific music scenes in Rock History. After a year in San
Diego where he struck up a close friendship with Bob Mosely (Legendary Bassist & Vocalist of
Moby Grape fame), Morrison decided to Slide on up the coast & took up residence in L.A.,
where Goth, Metal, Punk, & Hardcore were on a collision course, This led to numerous gigs in
various bands including; Magick Love Bag (Psycidelic), The Grim (Hardcore), & Sex After Death
(A Proto-Goth-Punk-Metal Band founded by Morrison). This time period featured
gigs at some of the hottest clubs in L.A. Including Gazzari's, The Troubadour, The Country Club,
Madame Wong's, Club Lingere, The Whiskey, Anti Club, The Central, Metro, & Al's Bar, As well
as Huge backyard Keg Parties in The Valley, & Beverly Hills. Some with as many as 500 fans
in attendance.There were also the 'After Hours' parties at Underground Clubs such as 'Scream' &
'Zombie Zoo' , where Morrison Could Be seen Raising Hell on a regular
basis. In 1989 after becoming dissillusioned with a scene that now emphasized Image over Music.
Morrison relocated to the Ojai Vally and resurected an old recording studio, previously owned by
Jim Messina, and christened it 'The Sonic Temple'. where he produced demo's & masters for a
long list of great bands, The Sonic Temple was also frequented by Randy California (Spirit) And Randall Marsh
(Code Blue/Tom Petty/Mudcrutch). 1993 Saw a return to the east coast as well as a full
immersion into Acoustic New Age Material, resulting in gigs, recordings, and radio apearences
with the likes of Caryn Lin, & Tre War Ren. Since then, Morrison has continued to develop as a
musician and songwriter with a strong focus on Solo Acoustic Material.
