The Kings of New York is a community based competition ranging all ages (thus far ages 5 to 55 years). Different communities worldwide come to witness the event, and to see just who exactly is king of the ring. Reaching out to many people across the globe, the event is pure dance based entertainment. The name itself rings to the heads of some of the best in the world letting creativity have no boundaries and creating fertile ground for new business within the hip hop culture. Over the last two years, the event has grown from 400 to almost 1000 people for the community, by the community.KONY hopes to use the sponsored money not only to hold their event, but more importantly to give the inner city youth the opportunity to travel outside of New York, and the United States, so that they may compete in various environments. Most New York b-boys, due to financial restrictions, are incapable of traveling to compete with and/or teach the New York style of dance to others; likewise many outside of New York, and the United States, do not have the privilege of travel.
