The Hayshakers (R.I.P)

About Me

WE ARE NO LONGER A BAND.I used to play guitar and sing for Double Down and my wife Brandi played drums for Social Concern . After a few bands that didn't go anywhere I decided to do a solo thing. One night on the way home from work (Brandi and I worked together at the time) Brandi asked me if she could join my one man band making it a duo. I of course said yes cause I thought it was a killer idea. So we practiced a few times her playing drums me playing guitar, but it lacked something. It sounded so much like everything else. So a few months went by of nothing until one night I decided I wanted to learn upright bass, so I ordered one off eBay and started learning. With a lot of practice and a lot of help from my pal Anthony, I started getting the hang of it, all the while teaching Brandi how to play guitar (at which she is fabulous).
At first we were going to call ourselves "AshleyAnne" combining both of our middle names, but it just didn't fit the direction our music was going. So one night we went to the movies and while we were sitting there waiting I started thinking about my grandpa, the man who taught me how to play guitar. He used to call open chords "hayshaker chords" cause' he didn't like them. He used to use that term for things he didn't like or things he thought were sketchy, shady or backwater. A lot of things really, it was an all around derogatory term. So I said "Let's call ourselves The Hayshakers." And it just stuck. So, now here we are. Playing the music we grew up on (or we're trying to anyway) as the cute and cuddly, loveable huggly HAYSHAKERS

We need all the help we can get. Any coffee shop, art gallery, park or flatbed truck in your area we can play on, we'll do it. It's easy for us to get around 'cause we're married and we only have two instruments. So orchestrating a trip out of town is a cinch.
If you can help us with a show please let us know either by myspace or phone (530) 410-4228. That's my phone I do the booking cause' Brandi is sick of it =)
