The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has been credited
with being the nation..s leading catalyst in the fight against
breast cancer. Since 1982, following Susan..s death from breast
cancer at a young age, the charitable organization launched by
her sister Nancy Brinker has invested hundreds of millions of
dollars to fund research, education screening and treatment
for the disease. Best known for "The Race for the Cure®",
an annual run/walk held in 112 sites internationally,
the Komen Foundation also sponsors a number of other
fund-raising events.
