Hecatomb was incarnated in April 1999. First line-up was vocals: Ulas Isiklar (vocalist of Legion, the demonic Trakyian death metal band), guitars: Sertan Alguney (ex-Consume), bass: Rifat Sahin (ex-Remains) and drums: Cagatay Ozdas (ex-Consume). This is first official album line-up of the band. In a short period of time the Hecatomb quattro got a reputation for their extreme songs crafted with bloody lyrics in their hometown Izmir. In 2003, Hecatomb finished their debut album ‘Decomposed in Hecatomb’. It was mixture of some old Florida death metal and some groovy crossover riffs with American brutal/screaming vocals. The band signed with Poem Productions and the album was released thru 2003. The album was composed 9 Hecatomb songs and a video track for ‘Assault’. Also, 3 video clips made for ‘Fatal Fear’, ‘Kill for Us’ and ‘Internal Suffering’ from debut album. After releasing ‘Decomposed in Hecatomb’, band attracted many good reactions from Turkey and abroad. Then, Cagatay drifted away from the band and the temporary replacement drummer was Fikri Yargici of Affliction, the European death metal style band from Izmir. After 12th show finally permanent drummer Levent Ak was adapted to the band as a fresh blood. Umut Uslu was also accepted as a second guitarist. In 2004, with this 5-member line-up the band performed with Greece’s holy Rotting Christ and another Greece band Negative Creeps. Then, in 2005, Hecatomb has parted their ways with Umut. The band is welcoming replacement guitarist ‘Kizil’ Onur Tanis. This line-up played in ‘Izmir Metal Massacre’ with Necrophagist, a unique grind band from Deutschland in October 2005. Until now, Hecatomb has performed 17 live shows in Izmir, Ankara and Eskisehir with killer Turkish metal bands such as Affliction, Cenotaph, Uck Grind, Consume, Sagaris, Soul Sacrifice, Cidesphere, Moribund Oblivion, Courtyard, Ketum, In Spite, False in Truth, Solitude, Antisilence, Acrimony, Sadistic Spell, Notwithstanding and Leviathan. Before the new Hecatomb album, promo cd ‘Gorehunger’ was out in November 2005. A new Hecatomb song, a Cannibal Corpse cover and a new version of old Hecatomb song have fallen within this promo.Second album ‘Impaled Apocalypse’ was out from Poem Productions in February 2006. It contains 9 Hecatomb songs. ‘Impaled Apocalypse’ recorded at Negative Studio and mixed by Ulas Isiklar and Rifat Sahin. It is a consept album which is about Vlad Dracula-The Impaler’s life in this earth and in the other darkside. Band presented more old school, more brutal and cruel death metal than ‘Decomposed in Hecatomb’ with the new album ‘Impaled Apocalypse’. Poem Productions recommended ‘Impaled Apocalypse’ to the death metal fans who listen the leader bands of Death Metal such like Deicide and Cannibal Corpse. After that, in March 2006, former guitarist Sertan Alguney and drummer Levent Ak left the band. In January 2007, Hecatomb made a first video clip for ‘Postmortal Pleasure’ from second album ‘Impaled Apocalypse’. Kizil Onur Tanis left the band in May 2007. Goremaster, the legendary death metal drummer of Turkish underground scene, joined the band for third Hecatomb’s devastating album record. A new Hecatomb is Ulas Isiklar (Vocals/Bass), Rifat Sahin (Guitars) and Goremaster (Drums).
