About Me

I like cheese. And peanut butter. The color red, but not the orangey kind. I like reading and watching TV and staying at home ignoring the world. I like gambling and swimming and taking long walks in the "wilderness". I may be allergic to the "wilderness" and I am definitely allergic to the rest of the world, and also cats. But not our cats apparently. We have two cats - Bubby and Shadow. Both are very cute and very annoying in their own ways. We have one dog - Oliver - who is also very cute and very annoying in his own way. I like to write, but I mostly feel like I've lost my edge so I'm quieter now than I used to be. I don't really miss my edge though. Only when I'm trying to write. I like football, and babies, and music. I like pillows and big squishy blankets and those perfect days that come like 3 times a year - when it's not too hot and not too cold and it's all you can do to keep from swooning about the weather. I love rainstorms and snowstorms on days when I can curl up and go back to sleep. I hate tomatoes. And centipedes. And really, a lot of people. But you wouldn't know it to look at me. I'm not as patient as I used to be, but I'm definitely more peaceful. I'm not satisfied with who I am yet, but I am happier with myself now than I've ever been before.

My Interests

Reading, Writing, Camping, Hiking, Dogs, Music, Movies, Drinking, Sleeping, Eating, Road Trips, Pop Culture, Shiny Things.

Music:

Almost everything - and even the stuff I don't like sometimes (in small doses). Sampling includes: Guster, Sarah McLachlan, Indigo Girls, Counting Crows, Matt Nathanson, Graham Colton, Hanson (!!), the Muppets, Aimee Mann, Train, Ari Hest, Josh Kelley, Lionel Richie, New Kids on the Block, Kenny Rogers, Jackson Browne, Keith Urban, Dierks Bentley, Josh Turner. Some stuff I'm just discovering: Alternate Routes, Ray LaMontagne, Amos Lee, Mat Kearney, The Wreckers, Colin Hay & Griffin House.

Movies:

Am certified movie buff. Favorites include: 80's stuff (Ferris Beuhler's Day Off, Can't Buy Me Love, Some Kind of Wonderful, Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink); Fun stuff (Pirates of the Caribbean, Grease, Willy Wonka); Stuff I'm embarressed to talk about in public (Blue Crush, Can't Hardly Wait, Thirteen Going on Thirty); and indie stuff (Twin Falls Idaho, Requieum for a Dream, Niagra Niagra). This is, by no means, a comprehensive list.

Television:

Too much. One Tree Hill, Lost, Nip/Tuck, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Heroes, Intervention, the programming on E!, VH1 & sometimes MTV that's like crack in its addictiveness. That 70's Show, Scrubs (when I can find it).

Books:

I'll read pretty much anything. I read a lot. Recent Favorites include: Anything by Jodi Picoult (new favorite!), Life of Pi by Yann Martel, The Davinci Code by Dan Brown, Midwives by Chris Bojahalian, Stones from the River by Ursula Hegi, and that whole Harry Potter thing (love!).
