Amarina is a Greek/Australian Rock/Powerpop Performer/Songwriter who was born in the island of Cyprus. She has been artistically known as 'Marina Solonos' in Greece and Cyprus, however she changed her name to Amarina when she decided to expand her musical career and move to the United States.But let's take things from the start. Amarina studied at the University of Sheffield/UK and obtained a bachelors degree in LAW at the very young age of 20, although she never followed the lawyer's profession. She composed and recorded her first song when she was 13 at "Juicy studio" in London. At a young age she formed her own English-speaking rock band in Cyprus. After that, she decided to sing for the first time in Greek language, so she released her debut album in Cyprus with the title 'Tipota' with ALL RECORDS Indie Record label.Soon after,she decided to move to Greece to expand her solo musical career. In Greece she was signed with EMI and VIRUS RECORDS consequently and released 3 more albums having great success in the music market as well as her share of top 20 hit songs, featured in many magazine covers and appeared on numerous T.V shows. She produced her fourth album called "Etreksa na s'aggiksw" together with John Themis, a distinguished and well known composer/guitar session player/producer in the United Kingdom who has been nominated for a Grammy award and has written many chart hits worldwide for distinguished artists like Kylie Minogue, Emma Bunton(Spice Girls), Shugarbabes, Boy George, Blue etc. In this particular album, Antony Costa of worldwide famous Boyband 'BLUE', is also featured performing the song 'Heleily' together with Marina Solonos.
Amarina composes music and writes lyrics for most of her songs, and her brother George Solonos produces all of her albums. George is a graduate of Leeds University U.K. in Music Production/ A+ Masters degree).To make a long story short, it was about time that Amarina turned back to the kind of music she grew up with and she really loved; Rock/pop English/American music. So she left behind all she had built so far and decided to move to the U.S. Cause that's who she always was on the first place...A genuine rock/powerpop artist/songwriter! With a hell of a lot of guts and determination to go with that!!!The now... she recorded a soundtrack for a big Bollywood movie (lyrics written by herself, and music/production by George Solonos) which is going to be included in the movie called "Boomerang", due to come out 2009-2010.She has just finished touring with her rock band 'Black in Rose'.
