Ez now.. im Pilch (my m8s know me as rich) iv been heavily into music every sinse i heard "you could be mine" by guns n roses.. from around '92 i woz in2 heavy rock and nu metal, listenin to bands like G'N'R, Metallica, Ugly Kid Joe and Terrorvision to start with and then spreading out both ways into the heavier side (such as Slipknot and Fear Factory) and the lighter stuff(Stereophonics, James Blunt and Kieth Caputo). I took up the guitar around '96/97 and got as far as crunchin out a few power chords and the odd simple solo but woz never as good as i wanted to be so started to loose interest..Fast forward a few years to late febuary 2003 and i got a phone call of a good friend of mine (big up DBR!) asking me to swap a set of decks and a mixer for an old playstation 1, i thought about it for a few minutes and realised it made sense because id JUST discovered drum n bass and that had replaced nu metal as my first love in music so i took up the offer and never looked back! sinse then ive spent endless hours teaching myself how to how and trying to polish of mixes in search of in what my eyes is "the perfect set"
In early 2005 i got an opportunity to present a radio show on a well known west midlands pirate radio station District fm (big up all district crew, dj's, m.c's and listeners but most of all a massive shout to the management!!!! thanks for the slots!!) that gave a taste for playing out to the public and went in search of sets in clubs and pubs in the local areas. After playing out at the odd set here and there i hooked up with local a dj/promotion crew that put on a night called "TREMORS" (shouts out to all the boys, lopephish colon jinjah assasin and the blood sucking leech) who were kind enough to let me play at there nights and that made me crave more so myself and Dribbz m.c. (big up lad) started hatching a plan to put on a dnb night in telford, these ideas soon spawned BASSCAMP, a monthly night for local djs and m.c.s with myself, Dribbz and m.c Mon-chi and lyrical Olas as residents and the tri-force boys (colon jinjah assasin and colon) by monthly residents and D.j caution makin guest apperences when possible..Again tho, this wasnt enough.. i love dropping sick tunes that people go mental for but i soon wanted to WRITE them myself!
My early attempts sounded more like animals in pain than music and i wouldnt even show them to close friends or family nevermind drop them into the mix but after the badman d.j caution (check out his tunes on my top friends for some wicked up and coming new styles) showed me the ropes of reason at the end of september '06 things started to make sense and instead of killing animals left right and centre i started making what if you look close enough you could actually say it was music!! thanks for that mate i owe you big time!!
With the release of "Hit Me" on Gruesome Beatz Records touching down in mid jan '07 i hope you will be hearing alot of me in the future.. thanks for taking the time to read the essay, i take it it didnt bore the shite outa you!! stay safe and i hope you enjoy the tunes!! leave feed back PLEASE! i wana know what you think!
